    The incidence and mortality rates of lung cancer remain the highest among all cancers. Although advances have been made in Western medical treatments, limitations still exist due to adverse reactions and drug resistance. The Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) theory of "the lung and large intestine being interiorly-exteriorly related" is associated with the modern medical concept of the "lung-gut axis. "It is well-established that both gut microbiota and short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) are closely linked to the occurrence and progression of lung cancer. This study aims to explore the feasibility and effectiveness of intervening in lung cancer based on the "lung and large intestine being interiorly-exteriorly related" theory from the perspective of SCFAs. The importance of SCFAs in lung cancer treatment and prognosis will be analyzed. A new strategy for intervening in lung cancer by regulating intestinal SCFA levels will be proposed, providing new ideas and methods for comprehensive treatment and prognostic improvement of lung cancer.

    The incidence of Premature Ovarian Insufficiency (POI) is on the rise year by year. Traditional Chinese medicine holds that the imbalance of the Chong and Ren meridians is the core pathogenesis of POI, and the function of the Chong and Ren meridians is similar to that of the ovary in Western medicine. This article aims to explore the integration of the theory of "regulating the Chong and Ren meridians" in traditional Chinese medicine and the theory of "improving the microenvironment of the ovary" in Western medicine, providing an innovative perspective for the diagnosis and treatment of early-onset ovarian insufficiency in traditional Chinese medicine and revealing the deep consensus of both traditional Chinese and Western medicine in the regulation of female reproduction.

    Objective:

    To observe the effect of Bear bile and UDCA on circulating blood Ly6Chigh monocyte chemotaxis receptor CCR2 and its ligand CCL2 (MCP-1) in model mice with Immune Thrombocytopenia (ITP), and explore the possible mechanism of regulating Ly6Chigh monocyte migration and reference studies on bear bile and its replacements in ITP management.

    Methods:

    Following established methods, an ITP model was induced via immunization in 50 BALB/c mice, randomLy allocated into five groups: normal control, model control, prednisone treatment, bear bile treatment, and UDCA treatment, from the 6th day of making model, mice in the each group was administered 0.4 mL/d volume of corresponding drug by irrigation treatment. From the 6 h, 7th day, 15th day, automatic blood cytometer was used to dynamic detect platelet count. after treatment 10 day, Flow cytometry was used to detect the changes of the Ly6Chigh monocyte in circulating blood, Enzyme-linked immunosorbent Assay was used to detect the levels of serum MCP-1 (monocyte chemotactic protein-1).

    Results:

    After the 6 hour of making model, the counts of platelet decreased obviously in all group, reaching the lowest point on the 7th day, and remained at a relatively low level until the 15th day. There was a statistically significant difference compared to the normal group (P < 0.05). After treatment, the platelet counts of bear bile, prednisone and UDCA group increased obviously (P < 0.01). Flow cytometry results showed that compared with the model group, the positive rate of circulating Ly6Chigh monocytes and its surface chemokine receptor CCR2 in bear bile, UDCA and prednesone groups decreased (P < 0.01, P < 0.001), while CX3CR1 expression increased (P < 0.001). Enzyme-linked immunosorbent Assay results showed that compared with the model group, the levels of MCP-1 in bear bile, UDCA and prednesone groups decreased(P < 0.001).

    Conclusion:

    The Bear bile and UDCA can downregulate the expression of CCR2 by reducing the level of MCP-1 in circulating blood, thus governs CCL2-CCR2 mediated Ly6Chigh monocyte emigration, reduce the Ly6Chigh monocytes in the circulating blood, this represents a crucial mechanism driving Ly6Chigh monocyte accumulation during ITP progression and worsening.

    Objective:

    To investigate the mechanism by which Yiqi Huoxue Lishui Decoction ameliorates hepatic fibrosis (HF) in rats by inhibiting hepatocyte ferroptosis via activation of the nuclear factor-E2-related factor 2 (Nrf2)/glutathione peroxidase 4 (GPX4) signaling pathway.

    Method:

    Forty Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats were randomly divided into five groups (n =8 per group) : the control group (Control), model group (Model), traditional Chinese medicine group (TCM), traditional Chinese medicine + ferroptosis inhibitor group (TCM + Fer-1), and traditional Chinese medicine + ferroptosis inhibitor + autophagy inhibitor group (TCM + Fer-1 + 3-MA). The model was established by intraperitoneal injection of a 50% carbon tetrachloride (CCl4) solution (1.5 mL/kg), administered twice weekly for 4 weeks. Treatment groups received their respective interventions: the Yiqi Huoxue Lishui Decoction was administered via oral gavage (2 mL/100 g), while the ferroptosis inhibitor Ferrostatin-1(Fer-1) (1 mg/kg) and the autophagy inhibitor 3-Methyladenine (3-MA) (15 mg/kg) were administered via intraperitoneal injection. All administrations were performed once daily for 4 weeks, while the other groups were given an equivalent volume of normal saline. Hepatic histopathological changes were evaluated using hematoxylin-eosin (HE) and Masson staining. Serum levels of aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), superoxide dismutase (SOD), malondialdehyde (MDA), and Fe2+ content in serum and liver tissue were measured. Western blot (WB) was employed to assess protein expression of GPX4, Nrf2, solute carrier family 7 member 11 (SLC7A11), transferring receptor 1 (TFR1), Beclin-1, and the LC3 II/I ratio. Quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) was utilized to determine mRNA expression levels of Nrf2 and GPX4.

    Results:

    Compared with the Control group, the Model group exhibited severe hepatic steatosis, significant fibrosis, elevated collagen deposition, increased serum AST, ALT, MDA, TNF-α, and Fe2+ levels, and reduced SOD activity (P < 0.05). Protein expression of GPX4, Nrf2, and SLC7A11 was upregulated, while TFR1 and Beclin-1 expression increased, and mRNA levels of GPX4 and Nrf2 were markedly suppressed (P < 0. 05). Intervention with Yiqi Huoxue Lishui Decoction and/or inhibitors significantly attenuated histopathological damage, reduced AST, ALT, MDA, TNF-α, Fe2+ levels, and downregulated TFR1 and Beclin-1 expression (P < 0.05). Concurrently, SOD activity, GPX4 and Nrf2 protein/mRNA expression, and SLC7A11 protein levels were elevated (P <0. 05). No significant difference was observed in the LC3 Ⅱ/Ⅰ ratio across groups(P > 0.05).

    Conclusion:

    Yiqi Huoxue Lishui Decoction may ameliorate hepatic fibrosis by inhibiting ferroptosis through activation of the Nrf2/GPX4 signaling pathway.

    Objective:

    To analyze the differences in chemical components between two types of Lycii cortex derived from Lycium chinense Mill. and Lycium barbarum L.

    Methods:

    HPLC was used to establish the fingerprint profiles of the two kinds of Lycii cortex samples, and the common pattern diagrams were compared for similarity analysis. An HPLC method was developed for the determination of four components: (E)-N-caffeoylputrescine, scopoline, kukoamine B, kukoamine A. Combined with principal component analysis (PCA) and orthogonal partial least squares discriminant analysis (OPLS-DA), the differences in chemical components of Lycii cortex from different origins were compared.

    Results:

    HPLC fingerprints of Lycii cortex from different origins were established. Lycii cortex originated from Lycium chinense Mill. had 14 common peaks, while Lycii cortex originated from Lycium barbarum L. had 11 common peaks. Five common peaks were identified: (E)-N-caffeoylputrescine (Peak 1), scopolin (Peak 2), kukoamine B (Peak 3), kukoamine A (Peak 5), and scopoletin (Peak 6). The quantitative analysis showed good linearity for the four components within the concentration ranges of 1.37 ~ 87.80 μg·mL-1(r=0.999 9), 1.97 ~ 125.83 μg·mL-1(r=0.999 7), 6.31 ~ 403.76 μg·mL-1(r = 0.999 9), and 10.67 ~ 341.57 μg·mL-1 (r = 0.999 8), with average recoveries of 100.52% ~ 103.84% and RSD of 2.33% ~ 3.42%. The content determination results showed that the average percentages of the four components in Lycii cortex originated from Lycium barbarum L. were higher than in Lycium chinense Mill. Chemical pattern recognition analysis classified the two types of Lycii cortex into two categories, and (E)-N-caffeoylputrescine played a prominent role in model construction.

    Conclusion:

    The established method is accurate and reliable, which can be utilized to distinguish the two varieties of Lycii Cortex and provide a reference for the quality control of them.

    Based on the etiology, pathogenesis, and dynamic characteristics of coronary microvascular diseases (CMVD), Professor Shen Baofan, National Master of Traditional Chinese Medicine, combined years of theoretical exploration and clinical research to apply the principle of "simultaneous occurrence and treatment of phlegm and blood stasis" in the differential diagnosis and treatment of CMVD. In clinical practice, Professor Shen emphasizes treating both phlegm and blood stasis simultaneously, focusing on replenishing qi, activating blood circulation, resolving phlegm, and unblocking collaterals. His approach includes resolving turbid phlegm while promoting blood circulation to remove stasis, treating blood stasis while eliminating phlegm to unblock collaterals, and addressing qi and yin deficiency while resolving phlegm and activating blood circulation. This principle is consistently applied throughout the entire progression of CMVD, achieving significant clinical efficacy. This article summarizes his clinical experience to provide a reference for the treatment of CMVD with traditional Chinese medicine.

    "Insomnia due to the kidney's failure to store the will" is a sub-type of insomnia within the TCM "Five-Spirit" diagnostic classification system for insomnia, characterized by the direct symptom of waking early after falling asleep at night. Its disease location is in the kidney, and the pathogenesis is the failure of the kidney-will to rest peacefully. The therapeutic method of calming the kidney will can be adopted for treatment. The medicinal herb Yuanzhi (Radix Polygalae), first documented in the Shennong Bencao Jing (Shennong's Collection of Materia Medica), was said to have the function of "strengthening the will and doubling strength". Subsequent physicians through the ages have extensively discussed it, believing that Yuanzhi has the function of "calming the kidney will". The herb pairs Yuanzhi-Fuling (or Fushen), Yuanzhi-Shudihuang, Yuanzhi-Yizhiren, Yuanzhi-Suanzaoren, and the compound formulas Huanshao pill, Kongsheng Zhenzhong pill, and Qifu decoction can all calm the kidney will to treat insomnia due to the kidney's failure to store the will. Among the herb pairs, Yuanzhi-Fuling (or Fushen) and Yuanzhi-Suanzaoren calm the heart spirit and soothe the kidney will; Yuanzhi-Shudihuang enriches kidney essence and nourishes kidney water to calm the kidney will; Yuanzhi-Yizhiren boosts intelligence, stabilizes qi, and calms the kidney will. Among the compound formulas, Huanshao pill tonifies the spleen and kidney, stabilizes the will, and calms the spirit; Kongsheng Zhenzhong pill tonifies the kidney and heart, calming the spirit and stabilizing the will; Qifu decoction tonifies the kidney and benefits the marrow, stabilizing the will and nourishing the spirit. Modern research indicates that the mechanism of Yuanzhi in treating this type of insomnia is related to improving neuroinflammation, oxidative stress, and regulating neurotransmitters, which can provide references for clinical and mechanistic research on Yuanzhi for this condition.

    Based on the physician Chen Shiduo's theory of "yang-fire and yin-fire in Qing Dynasty," this paper proposes a new perspective for treating atrial fibrillation (AF) from the concept of "pericardial fire. "The article points out that modern AF treatment has limitations such as bleeding risks from anticoagulation, side effects of medications, and high recurrence rates after interventional procedures. Furthermore, in the treatment of heart fire, traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) conventionally focuses on clearing heart fire, relatively neglecting the pathogenesis of the pericardium. Chen Shiduo believed that pericardial fire is a type of "yin-fire," characterized by a slow nature and a tendency to rise upward. It often arises from deficiency of heart qi and depletion of kidney water, leading to floating ministerial fire and stirring of deficient yang, which manifests as palpitations. The treatment emphasizes that "ministerial fire should be tonified, not drained," advocating for methods such as strongly tonifying heart qi, enriching kidney yin to restrain yang, or soothing liver qi to extinguish the flame, thereby returning the ministerial fire to its proper place, rather than simply clearing and draining it. The paper presents a clinical case of AF treated with a modified formula based on Chen's Guipi Decoction and Liuwei Dihuang Pills, demonstrating the clinical reasoning and therapeutic efficacy guided by this theory. This reflects TCM's holistic principle of "treating the root cause" and provides a new theoretical reference for the integrated treatment of AF with Chinese and Western medicine.

    Objective:

    To observe the clinical efficacy of special acupoint acupuncture in the treatment of abducens nerve palsy, and compare the efficacy with traditional acupuncture and drugs in the treatment of abducens nerve palsy.

    Methods:

    The clinical data of 97 patients with abducens nerve palsy treated by Department of Ophthalmology, Baoding Hospital of Guang'anmen Hospital, China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences from June 2020 to March 2022 were analyzed retrospectively, including 40 cases receiving special acupoint acupuncture therapy (special group), 30 cases receiving traditional acupuncture therapy (traditional group) and 30 cases receiving pure drug therapy (drug group). The onset time, clinical efficacy and course of treatment of patients in each group were compared and analyzed.

    Results:

    The onset time of special group was significantly faster than that of traditional group and drug group (P < 0.05); The total clinical effective rate of special group was significantly higher than that of traditional group and drug group (P <0.05); The duration of treatment in the special group was significantly shorter than that in the traditional group and the drug group (P < 0.05); The satisfaction of patients in the special group was significantly higher than that in the traditional group and the drug group (P <0.05).

    Conclusion:

    Compared with traditional acupuncture and drug therapy, special acupoint acupuncture has faster effect, shorter course of treatment, more significant curative effect and higher satisfaction. It is worth popularizing and applying.

    Objective:

    To study the effect of head and body acupuncture combined with high-low frequency repetitive transcranial brain stimulation (rTMS) on nerve and limb function of hemiplegic patients with cerebral infarction.

    Methods:

    Eighty patients with hemiplegia due to cerebral infarction were selected as the research subjects and were all treated in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine of Henan Provincial Veterans' Hospital from May 2022 to May 2024. The subjects were randomly and equally divided into the control group and the observation group. Both groups were given conventional medical treatment. The control group was treated with high-low frequency rTMS on the basis of the above, while the observation group was treated with head-body acupuncture and giant needling therapy + high-low frequency rTMS on the basis of conventional medical treatment. The clinical efficacy of the subjects was evaluated. The National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS), Fugl-Meyer Assessment (FMA), Berg Balance Scale (BBS), and activities of Daily Living (Barthel Index) were used to assess the neurological function, limb motor function, balance function, and activities of daily living of the subjects. The cerebral hemodynamics [mean blood flow velocity (Vm) of the middle cerebral artery, pulsatility index (PI)] and serum neurotransmitter levels [brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), dopamine (DA), 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT)] of the subjects were detected before and after the treatment.

    Results:

    The total effective rate in the observation group was significantly higher than that in the control group (P < 0.05). Compared with before treatment, the levels of NIHSS score and pulse index (PI) were decreased (P <0.05), while the levels of FMA, BBS, Barthel score, middle cerebral artery Vm, BDNF, DA and 5-HT were increased (P < 0.05). Compared with the control group, the NIHSS score and PI level of the observation group were lower after treatment (P < 0.05), while the FMA, BBS, Barthel scores, Vm, BDNF, DA, and 5-HT levels were higher (P <0.05).

    Conclusion:

    Head and body acupuncture combined with high-low frequency rTMS can effectively improve the clinical efficacy of patients with cerebral infarction hemiplegia, improve nerve function, limb function and balance function, promote hemodynamics and neurotransmitter release.

    Objective:

    To explore the clinical efficacy of Tongxuan Qishen formula (clearing Xuan and activating kidney Therapy) in treating diabetic nephropathy (DN) patients with spleen and kidney deficiency, blood stasis and water stagnation syndrome.

    Methods:

    A total of 85 patients with diabetic nephropathy who met the criteria of spleen and kidney deficiency, blood stasis and water stagnation syndrome, admitted to Wangjing Hospital of China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences from January 2022 to April 2024, were randomly divided into a control group (receiving basic treatment) and an treatment group (receiving basic treatment + clearing Xuan and activating kidney Therapy). The treatment group consisted of 43 patients, and the control group had 42 patients. The clinical symptoms, FIB-4 index, glucose and lipid metabolism-related indicators [glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c), total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C)], renal function indicators [24-hour urine total protein (24h UTP), estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR), serum creatinine (Scr), blood urea nitrogen (BUN), and uric acid (UA)], and safety indicators were observed and compared between the two groups before and after treatment.

    Results:

    After 12 weeks of intervention, the clinical treatment effective rate in the treatment group was 90.7% (39/43), significantly higher than the 64.3% (27/42) in the control group (P < 0.01). The Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) syndrome scores in the observation group decreased significantly (P <0.01), while in the control group, although there was a reduction in scores, the difference was not statistically significant (P > 0.05). Following treatment, the FIB-4 index decreased in both groups, but the improvement in the treatment group was significantly better than that in the control group (P < 0.05, P < 0.01). The lipid profile improvement in the treatment group was significantly better than that in the control group(P < 0.05). Specifically, total cholesterol (TC) and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) in the treatment group decreased significantly (P <0.01), triglycerides (TG) decreased markedly (P <0.05), and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) showed slight improvement but the difference was not statistically significant (P >0.05). In the control group, TC decreased significantly (P < 0.05), but the reductions in TG, HDL-C, and LDL-C were not statistically significant (P >0.05). The HbA1c levels in the treatment group decreased significantly (P <0.05), while no significant improvement was observed in the HbA1c levels of the control group (P >0.05). The estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) in the treatment group increased significantly (P < 0.05), while 24-hour urine total protein (24h UTP), serum creatinine (Scr) and uric acid (UA) decreased significantly (P < 0.05). No significant improvement was observed in blood urea nitrogen (BUN) (P > 0.05). In the control group, although there were improvements in 24h UTP, eGFR, Scr, BUN, and UA, the differences were not statistically significant (P > 0.05).

    Conclusion:

    Tongxuan Qishen formula can significantly improve the FIB-4 index, renal function, and metabolism-related clinical indicators in DN patients with spleen-kidney deficiency, blood stasis and water stagnation syndrome. It reduces the accumulation of metabolic products in the human body and plays an important role in reducing the risk of liver fibrosis, improving renal function, and delaying disease progression.

    Objective:

    To explore the clinical efficacy of Huatan Xiaoyu Formula in the treatment of gastric precancerous lesions and its effect on pepsin and circulating tumor cells (CTC).

    Method:

    A total of 110 gastric precancerous lesions patients with syndrome of phlegm-and-blood stasis obstructing collaterals who received treatment in the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University from January 2022 to January 2024 were randomly divided into two groups: the conventional group (n = 55) and the Huatan Xiaoyu Formula group (n = 55). Compare the efficacy of two groups of patients, including symptom scores, laboratory indicators (including pepsinogen I (PGⅠ), pepsinogen Ⅱ (PGⅡ), malondialdehyde (MDA), superoxide dismutase (SOD), epidermal growth factor (EGF), tumor necrosis factor a (TNF-α)), and positive detection rate of CTC before and after treatment. The adverse reactions of the two groups were observed.

    Results:

    The total effective rate of the Huatan Xiaoyu Formula group was higher than that of the conventional group (P <0.05). After treatment, both groups showed a decrease in epigastric fullness, epigastric pain, loose stools, thirst and total score, and the Huatan Xiaoyu Formula group was lower than the conventional group (P <0.05). After treatment, the score of WHOQOL-BREF in both groups was increased, and Huatan Xiaoyu Formula group was higher than that in conventional group (P <0.05). After treatment, the levels of PGⅠ and PGⅠ/Ⅱ in both groups increased, and the Huatan Xiaoyu Formula group was higher than the conventional group (P <0.05); The levels of PGII in both groups decreased, and the group of Huatan Xiaoyu Formula was lower than the conventional group (P <0.05). After treatment, the levels of MDA, TNF-α and EGF in both groups decreased, and the Huatan Xiaoyu Formula group was lower than the conventional group (P <0.05); The levels of SOD in both groups increased, and the Huatan Xiaoyu Formula group was higher than the conventional group (P < 0.05). The positive rate of CTC in the Huatan Xiaoyu Formula group was lower than that in the conventional group (P < 0.05). There was no significant difference in adverse reactions between the two groups (P >0.05).

    Conclusion:

    Huatan Xiaoyu Formula can effectively treat gastric precancerous lesions, improve symptom scores, gastrointestinal hormone levels, reduce levels of oxidative stress related factors, body inflammation, and the positive rate of CTC.

    Objective:

    To explore the clinical efficacy of Sijun Wendan Formula combined with Febuxostat tablets in the treatment of gouty nephropathy and its impact on patients' renal function.

    Method:

    A total of 148 patients with gout nephropathy admitted to the Department of Nephrology and Rheumatology of Anqing First People's Hospital (from January 2023 to January 2025) were included in this study. The patients were evenly divided into two groups by the random number table method. Patients in the control group (74 cases) were treated with febuxostat tablets. Patients in the observation group (74 cases) were treated with Febuxostat Tablets + Sijun Wendan Formula. During the study, 3 cases dropped out in the control group and 2 cases in the observation group. Eventually, there were 72 cases in the observation group and 71 cases in the control group. Observe the therapeutic effects of the two groups of patients, the TCM syndrome scores before and after treatment (such as frequent nocturia, low back pain, joint swelling and pain, etc.), procalcitonin (PCT), C-reactive protein (CRP), erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), serum uric acid (UA), blood urea nitrogen (BUN), serum creatinine (Scr), glomerular filtration rate (eGFR), and the level of 24-hour urine protein quantification (24h UTP) and adverse reactions.

    Results:

    The curative effect of observation group was higher than that of control group(P < 0.05); After treatment, TCM symptom scores (nocturnal frequent urination, lumbago, joint swelling pain, etc.), PCT, CRP, ESR, UA, BUN, Scr, 24h UTP levels were decreased in both groups (P < 0.05), and eGFR levels were increased(P < 0.05). After treatment, the TCM syndrome scores (nocturnal frequent urination, lumbago, joint swelling pain, etc.), PCT, CRP, ESR, UA, BUN, Scr, 24h UTP levels in observation group were lower than those in control group(P < 0.01), and eGFR levels were higher than those in control group(P < 0.05); The incidence of adverse reactions in observation group was lower than that in control group (P <0.01).

    Conclusion:

    The combination of Sijun Wendan Formula and Febuxostat tablets has a good clinical effect in the treatment of gouty nephropathy, and can effectively improve patients' symptoms and renal function. The treatment is safe and reliable.

    Objective:

    To analyze the effect of Tianma Gegen decoction on ischemic stroke (Wind-Phlegm-Stasis Blocking Syndrome).

    Methods:

    The clinical data of 105 patients with ischemic stroke (Wind-Phlegm-Stasis blocking syndrome) admitted to Rugao Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine during January 2021 to December 2023 were retrospectively analyzed. According to different treatment methods, they were divided into control group (n = 55, conventional treatment) and observation group (n = 50, conventional treatment + modified Tianma Gegen decoction). After 2 weeks of continuous treatment, the clinical efficacy, adverse reactions, and TCM symptom scores, degree of neurological impairment [National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) score], serum indexes [neuron-specific enolase (NSE), matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-9, intercellular adhesion molecule (ICAM)-1, monocyte chemoattractant protein(MCP)-1] levels before and after treatment were evaluated.

    Results:

    The total effective rate of observation group was 98.00%(49/50), which was higher than that of control group 85.45%(47/55) (P < 0.05). Compared with before treatment, TCM syndrome score, NIHSS score and serum levels of NSE, MMP-9, ICAM-1 and MCP-1 in both groups were decreased after treatment(P < 0.01), and the observation group was lower than the control group(P < 0.01). The total incidence of adverse reactions in observation group and control group was 8.00%(4/50) and 5.45%(3/55), respectively, with no statistical significance(P > 0.05).

    Conclusion:

    The modified Tianma Gegen decoction in the treatment of ischemic stroke (Wind-Phlegm-Stasis Blocking Syndrome) can improve the therapeutic effect, alleviate symptoms, reduce the levels of serum NSE, MMP-9, ICAM-1 and MCP-1, which is conducive to the improvement of neurological impairment, and will not increase the occurrence of adverse reactions.

    Objective:

    To explore the influence of combination of Formula No.2 for Heart Failure and acupoint application on myocardial enzymes and serum N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide (NT-pro-BNP) and cardiac troponin T (cTnT) in patients with chronic heart failure (CHF).

    Methods:

    Totally 120 patients with chronic heart failure were randomized in the Taizhou hospital from Dec. 2021 to December Dec. 2024 were randomly grouped. 60 cases in the control group were treated with conventional western medicine, and the remaining 60 cases in the treatment group were given combined therapy with Formula No.2 for heart failure and acupoint application on this basis. The clinical efficacy and TCM symptoms scores and levels of serum myocardial enzymes [lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), creatine kinase (CK), CK-MB, AST], NT-pro-BNP and cTnT before and after treatment were compared between groups, and the adverse reactions in both groups were observed.

    Results:

    The treatment group had higher total effective rate of treatment and lower scores of TCM symptoms after treatment compared to the control group (P < 0.05). The levels of LDH, CK, CK-MB, AST, NT-pro-BNP and cTnT in the treatment group were reduced after treatment compared with those in the control group (P < 0.05). No obvious differences were exhibited in the adverse reactions between both groups (P >0.05).

    Conclusion:

    Formula No.2 for heart failure combined with acupoint application has a significant effect in the treatment of CHF, and it can effectively relieve the symptoms, and improve the myocardial enzymes and serum NT-pro-BNP and cTnT, without causing obvious adverse reactions.

    Objective:

    To explore the clinical effect of combination of Dachaihu Decoction and amlodipine besylate in treating hypertension with liver-fire hyperactivity syndrome.

    Methods:

    A total of 148 hypertensive patients with liver-fire hyperactivity syndrome admitted to Pingyi County Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital between January 2022 and January 2025 were divided into control group (n = 74, amlodipine besylate) and combined group (n = 74, Dachaihu Decoction combined with amlodipine besylate) according to the random number table method. The clinical efficacy, TCM symptoms scores and 24 h ambulatory blood pressure were compared between both groups, and the safety and quality of life in the two groups were evaluated.

    Results:

    Compared with the control group, the clinical efficacy in the combined group was enhanced after treatment (P < 0. 05) while the scores of TCM syndromes were reduced (P <0.05). The 24 h average systolic, 24 h average diastolic blood pressures, daytime average systolic blood pressure, daytime average diastolic blood pressure, nighttime average systolic blood pressure and nighttime average diastolic blood pressure in the combined group after treatment were decreased compared with those in the control group (P < 0.05). The scores of various dimensions of quality of life brief scale were increased in the combined group after treatment (P <0.05). No significant difference was exhibited in the occurrence of adverse reactions between groups (P > 0.05).

    Conclusion:

    Dachaihu Decoction combined with amlodipine besylate has significant efficacy in the treatment of hypertensive patients with liver-fire hyperactivity syndrome, and it can effectively reduce blood pressure, improve symptoms, and enhance the quality of life, with guaranteed safety.

    Objective:

    To investigate the efficacy of Buyang Huanwu Decoction combined with "Shao's Five-Needle Technique" in treating unstable angina pectoris (UA) of coronary heart disease.

    Methods:

    Using a random number table method, 120 patients with UA of coronary heart disease admitted to Baoji Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from January 2023 to July 2024 were divided into a decoction group, an acupuncture group, and a combination group, with 40 cases in each group. All three groups received conventional treatment. Additionally, the decoction group was treated with Buyang Huanwu Decoction, the acupuncture group was treated with "Shao's Five-Needle Technique," and the combination group was treated with Buyang Huanwu Decoction combined with "Shao's Five-Needle Technique." One treatment course consisted of 10 days, and all groups were treated for 2 courses. The clinical efficacy of angina pectoris, electrocardiogram efficacy, and adverse reactions were compared among the three groups. TCM syndrome scores, clinical symptoms, cardiac function, blood lipids, and serum inflammatory indicators were recorded before and after treatment in each group.

    Results:

    The overall comparison of the total clinical effective rates and total electrocardiogram effective rates among the three groups showed statistically significant differences (P <0.05). After treatment, the total TCM syndrome scores, clinical symptom-related indicators of angina pectoris, total cholesterol (TC), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), triglycerides (TG), and serum levels of interleukin (IL)-6, IL-1β, high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP), and tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α) decreased in all three groups compared with those before treatment (P < 0.05). The combination group had lower total TCM syndrome scores, clinical symptoms of angina pectoris, TC, LDL-C, and serum inflammatory-related indicators than the decoction group and acupuncture group (P <0.05). After treatment, the cardiac ejection fraction (EF), stroke volume (SV), and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) increased in all three groups compared with those before treatment (P < 0.05). The combination group had higher EF and SV than the decoction group and acupuncture group (P <0.05). There were no statistically significant differences in any indicators between the decoction group and the acupuncture group (P > 0.05). The comparison of the total incidence of adverse reactions among the three groups showed no statistically significant difference (P > 0.05).

    Conclusion:

    Buyang Huanwu Decoction combined with "Shao's Five-Needle Technique" is safe and effective in treating UA of coronary heart disease. It significantly improves angina symptoms and cardiac function, with notable lipid-regulating and anti-inflammatory effects.

    Objective:

    To explore the effect of Hushen Jiangtang paste in non dialysis diabetes nephropathy patients with spleen kidney yang deficiency.

    Methods:

    Totally 93 patients with non dialysis diabetes nephropathy were selected from the department of nephrology and rheumatology and the department of diabetes in Zhengzhou Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from April 2023 to January 2025. They were divided into the granule group (n = 46) and the paste group (n=47) by lot drawing. During the research process, a total of 3 cases withdrew or were lost to follow-up. Among them, one case in the particle group withdrew due to unwillingness to continue cooperating with treatment; One case was lost to follow-up in the paste group, and one case automatically withdrew. Finally, there were 45 cases in the granule group and 45 cases in the paste group. The granule group was given Urinary Detoxification Granules (sugar free type) orally, while the ointment group was given Hushen Jiangtang paste orally. Compare the clinical efficacy, TCM syndrome score, glucose and lipid metabolism, proteinuria, renal function, meridian characteristics, and adverse reactions between two groups.

    Results:

    The total clinical effective rate of the ointment group was 91.11% (41/45), which was higher than that of the granule group 75.56% (34/45) (P < 0.05). After 24 weeks of treatment, the two groups showed a decrease in overall swelling, pale complexion, cold limbs, cold and painful waist and spine, and mental fatigue scores compared to before treatment(P < 0.05). The plaster group was lower than the granule group (P < 0.05). After 24 weeks of treatment, the levels of TC, TG, LDL-C, FBG, and HbA1c in both groups decreased compared to before treatment(P < 0.05), and the paste group was lower than the granule group (P <0.05). There was no significant difference in Scr levels between the particle group before treatment and 24 weeks after treatment (P > 0.05) ; The Scr level in the ointment group decreased after 24 weeks of treatment compared to before treatment (P < 0.05) ; After 24 weeks of treatment, the Scr level in the ointment group was lower than that in the granule group (P < 0.05) ; After 24 weeks of treatment, the levels of mAlb, 24-hour urine protein quantification(24h UTP), and BUN in both groups decreased compared to before treatment(P < 0.05), and the paste group was lower than the granule group (P <0.05). After 24 weeks of treatment, the physical fitness and Yin/Yang meridian energy index levels of the two groups increased compared to before treatment(P < 0.05), with the ointment group higher than the granule group (P < 0.05); The energy index levels of the upper/lower, autonomic nervous system (P < 0.05), and left/right meridians decreased compared to before treatment(P < 0.05), and the ointment group was lower than the granule group (P < 0.05). According to Fisher's exact probability test, there was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the paste group (2.22%, 1/45) and the granule group (6.67%, 3/45) (P >0.05).

    Conclusion:

    Hushen Jiangtang paste can regulate glucose and lipid metabolism, proteinuria, and renal function in non dialysis diabetes nephropathy patients with spleen and kidney yang deficiency, improve the characteristics of meridians, regulate TCM syndrome scores, and has good safety and improve clinical efficacy.

    Objective:

    To investigate the clinical efficacy of Jiedu Yizhi Formula for Alzheimer's disease (AD) based on the theory of "marrow deficiency and toxin damage. "

    Methods:

    A total of 88 AD patients admitted to Shanghai Pudong Hospital from June 2024 to March 2025 were enrolled and randomly divided into an observation group (conventional treatment + Jiedu Yizhi Formula) and a control group (conventional treatment), with 44 cases in each group. The therapeutic efficacy was compared between the two groups after 12 weeks of treatment. Cognitive function [Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE), Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA)], activities of daily living [Activity of Daily Living Scale (ADL), Barthel Index], cerebral microcirculation (vertebrobasilar artery blood flow velocity), oxidative stress indicators [superoxide dismutase (SOD), malondialdehyde (MDA), β-amyloid (Aβ)], and inflammatory indicators [interleukin (IL)-1β, IL-6, tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α)] were assessed before treatment and after 12 weeks of treatment.

    Results:

    After 12 weeks of treatment, the total effective rate in the observation group was higher than that in the control group (P <0.05). After 12 weeks of treatment, the MMSE, MoCA, Barthel Index scores, cerebral microcirculation indicators (left vertebral artery, right vertebral artery, basilar artery), and SOD levels in the observation group were increased compared with before treatment (P < 0.05) and were higher than those in the control group (P < 0.05). The ADL score, MDA, Aβ, IL-1β, and TNF-α levels in the observation group were decreased compared with before treatment (P < 0.05) and were lower than those in the control group (P < 0.05). There was no significant difference in IL-6 levels between the two groups before treatment and after 12 weeks of treatment (P > 0.05).

    Conclusion:

    Jiedu Yizhi Formula demonstrates good clinical efficacy in treating Alzheimer's disease, significantly improving cognitive function and activities of daily living. The mechanism may be related to improving cerebral microcirculation and reducing oxidative stress and inflammation levels.

    Objective:

    To investigate the effects of Gegen Decoction combined with probiotics on symptom scores, time to negative conversion of fecal reducing substances, fecal pH value, and microbiome-related indicators in pediatric acute diarrhea.

    Methods:

    A total of 98 children with acute diarrhea treated at Qinhuangdao Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from January 2024 to July 2024 were randomly divided into an experimental group (Gegen Decoction Granules + probiotics) and a control group (probiotics alone), with 49 cases in each group. During follow-up, 3 cases dropped out in the experimental group and 2 cases in the control group, resulting in 46 cases in the experimental group and 47 cases in the control group completing the study. Both groups received oral rehydration and dietary management according to clinical guidelines. The treatment duration was 5 days. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome scores, time to negative conversion of fecal reducing substances, fecal pH value, number of bowel movements within 24 hours, fecal calprotectin, short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs), and fecal secretory immunoglobulin A (sIgA) levels were compared between the two groups before and after treatment. Adverse events were also recorded.

    Results:

    The experimental group showed significantly greater improvements than the control group in terms of symptom score reduction, time to negative conversion of fecal reducing substances, restoration of fecal pH value, increase in total SCFAs, butyrate proportion, and fecal sIgA, as well as reduction in fecal calprotectin (P < 0.05, P < 0.01). The overall response rate was 93.48% (43/46) in the experimental group and 80.85% (38/47) in the control group (P <0.05). There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse events between the two groups (P > 0.05).

    Conclusion:

    Gegen Decoction combined with probiotics can significantly alleviate symptoms of acute diarrhea in children, promote recovery of carbohydrate absorption, correct the acidic intestinal environment, and modulate microbiome and mucosal immunity indicators, with a favorable safety profile. It represents an effective integrated treatment strategy.

    Peripheral facial paralysis (PFP) is a functional disorder of facial muscles primarily caused by damage to the facial nerve or its nucleus, commonly resulting from conditions such as stroke, intracranial infections, or otitis media. The majority of cases are idiopathic facial paralysis, which is associated with factors like cold exposure and seasonal changes. PFP has a rapid onset and is often seen on one side of the face. It can cause paralysis or paralysis of the facial muscles in patients, presenting symptoms such as drooling, facial expression imbalance, inability to close eyes, and limited ability to raise eyebrows, which brings inconvenience to patients' lives and requires timely treatment. Western medicine mostly conducts drug treatment based on the etiology, but there are still some patients with sequelae of PFP. Traditional Chinese medicine theory has unique insights into PFP. It holds that PFP is mostly caused by wind pathogen invading the human body and blocking the circulation of qi and blood in the meridians. Stimulating specific acupoints with acupuncture can promote blood circulation and remove blood stasis, unblock the meridians, dispel cold and dampness, adjust the overall state of the body, improve blood supply to the facial muscles, promote nerve regeneration, and facilitate the patient's recovery. Now, this study aims to further explore the mechanism of acupuncture in the treatment of PFP and the therapeutic effect of acupuncture on PFP at different times, providing a basis for improving the therapeutic effect of acupuncture on PFP and accelerating the recovery process.

    Cervi Cornu Pantotrichum is a traditional precious animal-derived medicinal material in China, with a history of application spanning over two thousand years. Cervi Cornu Pantotrichum from Heilongjiang Province has high yield and superior quality, making it one of the "Long Nine Botanicals" of Cold-region Long Medicine. Cervi Cornu Pantotrichum is rich in various active components such as peptides, fatty acids, and polysaccharides, and possesses multiple pharmacological activities including improving reproductive function, enhancing immunity, promoting wound healing, antioxidant, anti-fatigue, and anti-tumor effects. It can be used to treat various diseases such as chronic heart failure, osteoporosis, Alzheimer's disease, pulmonary fibrosis, and liver fibrosis. Cervi Cornu Pantotrichum stem cells and their exosomes also show great therapeutic potential and application prospects in promoting wound healing and anti-tumor effects. This article reviews the research progress in the chemical composition and pharmacological effects of Cervi Cornu Pantotrichum, aiming to provide a scientific basis for in-depth research and product development of Cervi Cornu Pantotrichum.
