To investigate the clinical efficacy of Jiedu Yizhi Formula for Alzheimer's disease (AD) based on the theory of "marrow deficiency and toxin damage. "
A total of 88 AD patients admitted to Shanghai Pudong Hospital from June 2024 to March 2025 were enrolled and randomly divided into an observation group (conventional treatment + Jiedu Yizhi Formula) and a control group (conventional treatment), with 44 cases in each group. The therapeutic efficacy was compared between the two groups after 12 weeks of treatment. Cognitive function [Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE), Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA)], activities of daily living [Activity of Daily Living Scale (ADL), Barthel Index], cerebral microcirculation (vertebrobasilar artery blood flow velocity), oxidative stress indicators [superoxide dismutase (SOD), malondialdehyde (MDA), β-amyloid (Aβ)], and inflammatory indicators [interleukin (IL)-1β, IL-6, tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α)] were assessed before treatment and after 12 weeks of treatment.
After 12 weeks of treatment, the total effective rate in the observation group was higher than that in the control group (P <0.05). After 12 weeks of treatment, the MMSE, MoCA, Barthel Index scores, cerebral microcirculation indicators (left vertebral artery, right vertebral artery, basilar artery), and SOD levels in the observation group were increased compared with before treatment (P < 0.05) and were higher than those in the control group (P < 0.05). The ADL score, MDA, Aβ, IL-1β, and TNF-α levels in the observation group were decreased compared with before treatment (P < 0.05) and were lower than those in the control group (P < 0.05). There was no significant difference in IL-6 levels between the two groups before treatment and after 12 weeks of treatment (P > 0.05).
Jiedu Yizhi Formula demonstrates good clinical efficacy in treating Alzheimer's disease, significantly improving cognitive function and activities of daily living. The mechanism may be related to improving cerebral microcirculation and reducing oxidative stress and inflammation levels.
