    Objective

To investigate the effects of Buzhong Yiqi Decoction(补中益气汤)combined with Huaier Granules(槐耳颗粒)on swallowing function as well as inflammatory factors after esophageal cancer surgery.

    Methods

Eighty-four patients with esophageal cancer who met the inclusion criteria were selected and divided into the reference group and treatment group according to the ratio of 1∶1 by random number table method. Both the reference and treatment groups received general treatment. The reference group was treated with traditional Chinese medicine placebo in combination with conventional western medicine. The treatment group was treated with Buzhong Yiqi Decoction combined with Huaier Granules on the basis of western medicine treatment for 2 weeks. The changes of TCM syndrome points, adverse reactions, swallowing function, the levels of C-reactive protein(CRP),interleukin-6(IL-6),interleukin-1β(IL-1β),squamous cell carcinoma antigen(SCC-Ag),carbohydrate antigen 19-9(CA19-9),carcinoembryonic antigen(CEA)and quality of life scores of the two groups were observed before and after treatment.

    Results

There was no significant difference between the two groups in all the observational indicators before treatment(P>0.05). After receiving the treatment, all the indexes of the reference group and the treatment group improved(P<0.05). And in the treatment group, the improvement of the TCM syndrome points, swallowing function, inflammatory factor levels and tumor marker level were more obvious, and the quality of life was significantly improved(P<0.05).

    Conclusion

The combination of Buzhong Yiqi Decoction and Huaier Granules can effectively improve the swallowing function and the effect of inflammatory factors after esophageal cancer surgery. Moreover,it can reduce the postoperative stress reaction of patients with esophageal cancer, decrease the levels of tumor markers and improve the quality of life of patients.

    Results

The total efficacy rate in the observation group(97.98%,97/99)was higher than that in the control group(84.85%,84/99)with statistical difference(P<0.05). The TCM syndrome scores including cough, wheezing, expectoration and wheezing yielded no statistical difference between two groups before treatment(P>0.05),and the scores were descended in two groups after treatment(P<0.05). There were statistical difference before and after treatment in two groups(P<0.05). After treatment,TCM syndromes score of the observation group was lower than that of the control group(P<0.05). The observation group had descended time to fever reduction, cough disappearance, sputum disappearance, wheezing disappearance and hospital stay length compared with the control group(P<0.05). The levels of IL-6,WBC,hs-CRPand ESR of two groups before treatment showed no statistical difference(P>0.05),and had statistical difference after treatment(P<0.05). After treatment, the levels of IL-6,WBC,hs-CRPand ESR were lower in the observation group than those of the control group(P<0.05). No statistical difference was found in FEV1,PEF or FEV1/FVC before treatment(P>0.05),while the post-treatment FEV1,PEF and FEV1/FVCdenoted statistical difference with those before treatment(P<0.05). The three pulmonary function indicators were higher in the observation group than those of the control(P<0.05). After treatment, the total adverse reaction rate was 5.05%(5/99)in the observation group, which was slightly lower than that of the control group(7.07%,7/99)(P>0.05).

    Conclusion

The application of Sangju Qingjie Decoction combined with symptomatic and supportive therapy including anti-infection,antipyretic therapy, fluid resuscitation and aerosol inhalation in children with lobar pneumonia can remarkably improve the clinical outcome in children by shortening the duration of treatment, cutting down the rate of adverse reaction, and improving lung function and the serum levels of inflammatory factors.

Banxia(Pinelliae Rhizoma)was first published in Shennong Bencao Jing, with a long history of medication, outstanding clinical application and a wide range of compatibility. The seven relations of medicinal compatibility include single, mutual reinforcement, mutual assistance, mutual restraint, mutual suppression, mutual inhibition and antagonism. The theory of seven relations of medicinal compatibility in traditional Chinese medicine refers to the use of drugs together to achieve synergistic or attenuating effects. Based on the literature of CNKI and combined with the characteristics of clinical use, this paper sorted out and excavated the commonly used drug pairs of Banxia(Pinelliae Rhizoma),and it is found that Banxia(Pinelliae Rhizoma)is often used with Houpo(Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex),Huanglian(Coptidis Rhizoma),Maidong(Ophiopogonis Radix),Renshen(Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma),Baizhu(Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma),Chenpi(Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium)and Xiakucao(Prunellae Spica)with the relations of mutual reinforcement and mutual assistance, used with Shengjiang(Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens)and Gancao(Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma)with the relations of mutual restraint and mutual suppression, and used with Fuzi(Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata)and Chuanwu(Aconiti Radix)with the relations of antagonism. Through the combination of traditional Chinese medicine theory and modern pharmacology,it is concluded that Banxia(Pinelliae Rhizoma)has many functions such as gastrointestinal protection, nerve regulation,anti-coagulation,anti-depression,anti-inflammation and anti-tumor,which verifies the rationality of the theory of seven relations of medicinal compatibility in traditional Chinese medicine and provides ideas for the use law and clinical treatment of Banxia(Pinelliae Rhizoma)and its drug pairs.

The content of alcohol-soluble extract in 24 batches of Huangqin(Scutellariae Radix)fresh cut pieces were(46.44±0.06)%~(55.26±0.21)%,the contents of total flavonoids, baicalin, wogonoside, baicalein and wogonin were(215.90±0.14)~(288.87±0.21)mg/g,(150.10±0.34)~(199.40±0.19)mg/g,(27.72±0.04)~(39.85±0.15)mg/g,(2.45±0.00)~(8.63±0.01)mg/g,(0.56±0.00)~(2.43±0.01)mg/g,respectively. The contents of alcohol-soluble extract in 24 batches of Huangqin(Scutellariae Radix)traditional pieces were(44.69±0.04)%~(54.24±0.07)%,the contents of total flavonoids, baicalin, wogonoside, baicalein and wogonin were(214.16±0.14)~(286.08±0.00)mg/g,(155.82±0.08)~(197.62±0.18)mg/g,(28.16±0.02)~(38.24±0.00)mg/g,(2.11±0.02)~(5.84±0.03)mg/g,(0.43±0.00)~(1.24±0.00)mg/g,respectively. Compared with those in the traditional cutting pieces, the contents of baicalein and wogonin were higher in fresh cutting pieces, whereas that of baicalin was lower in the fresh cutting pieces. Comprehensive evaluation of Huangqin(Scutellariae Radix)pieces were positively correlated with the contents of total flavonoids with the baicalin and wogonoside, the baicalin with wogonoside, the baicalein with wogonin(<0.01).

    Conclusion

The processing technology of fresh cutting is feasible in the production of Huangqin(Scutellariae Radix)pieces.
