This study uses Tu Youyou winning the Nobel Prize as an example to help understand scientific events in a variety of media platforms, such as traditional media and social media communications. Content analysis method is used to analyze traditional media and social media news reports. The timeliness found on social media is pretty shorter than that of traditional media, but topics fade very quickly. As regards what they are concerned about, the event of issues are also different, traditional media are more biasedly congratulated where the public spread science knowledge. Social media platforms are more inclined to science communication in the “human” participation and controversial issue, meanwhile, social media science texts presented on quality, depth of content, and issues affecting traditional media, its role in science communication should not be ignored.

Top journal is often regarded as the representative of frontier scientific research results, information and knowledge-based intelligence analysis tend to be one of functional advantages and significant to information science field. It is crucial to understand the position of our country in the forefront of scientific development through an intelligence analysis of articles publicized in top scientific journals from China. In order to understand deeply the distribution structure of Chinese first author and corresponding author in top journals, the research regards Nature and Science as representatives based on bibliometrics. The popularity of eating placenta and placenta therapy, which is also called “fresh cell therapy”, has been accompanied by controversy. The controversy is focused on the scientific and historical evidences. Looking into the scientific research to date, no rigorous evidence for therapeutic effects or hazard was found; the placenta therapy has nothing to do with stem cell therapy; and the “fresh cell therapy” was not supported by Chinese or Swiss government. The history of burying placenta was longer than eating, furthermore, the objection to medicinal placenta has been in existence since ancient times, therefore, long history cannot be used as an evidence for efficacy. Chinese historical regimen, the large demand and profits of health-care products along with the cognitive space given by the absence of scientific research give rise to the popularity of this kind of product under the situation of the absence of scientific and historical evidence.
