To investigate the effect of three different strains on the chemical composition of Polygonatum in the fermentation process of Polygonatum.
the crushed Rhizoma Polygonati was prepared into a suspension according to the 30 ∶ 70 ratio of care solution, and the three activated bacterial solutions of Lactobacillus casei, Lactobacillus rhamnosus and Bacillus subtilis were separately added according to the 5% inoculum. The sample morphology and the number of viable bacteria were observed. Ultra performance liquid chromatography quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry (uplc-q-tof-ms) was used to analyze the differential chemical components of Polygonatum sibiricum before and after fermentation.
Rhizoma Polygonati was thickened after fermentation, with fluidity and sour taste. Milky white folds appeared after fermentation by Lactobacillus rhamnosus and Bacillus subtilis. On the 6th day of fermentation, Lactobacillus casei and Bacillus subtilis had the highest viable counts, which were 3.40 × 108 CFU/g and 2.62 × 109 CFU/g, respectively; The number of viable bacteria was the highest when Lactobacillus rhamnosus was fermented for 7 days, which was 2.59 × 108 CFU/g; Three triterpenoid saponins, 2 flavonoids, 1 organic acid.
Lactobacillus rhamnosus and Lactobacillus casei can convert triterpenoid steroidal saponins into aglycones during the fermentation of Polygonatum sibiricum, and the utilization effect of saponins is better. Bacillus subtilis can convert flavonoid glycosides into aglycones, and the utilization effect of flavonoid glycosides is better.

To investigate epidemiological trends in pulmonary nodule detection, characterize the distribution patterns of nodule size, morphology, anatomical location, and multiplicity, analyze gender- and age-related correlations, and propose Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)-based intervention strategies.
A retrospective cohort analysis was conducted using low-dose computed tomography (LDCT) data from 5 426 individuals undergoing routine health screenings at Liaocheng Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from January to December 2024, identifying 4 076 patients with pulmonary nodules. Statistical analyses, including chi-square tests and Fisher's exact tests, were performed using SPSS 23.0.
Pulmonary nodule detection rates demonstrated a progressive increase in recent years, peaking in 2022, followed by stabilization in 2024. Nodule characteristics revealed a predominance of solid nodules (70.6%), micro-nodules (< 10 mm, 73.3%), and multiple nodules (84.3%). Anatomically, the right upper lobe exhibited the highest nodule prevalence (20.8%). Gender-specific analysis identified significant disparities: females displayed a higher proportion of multiple nodules (P < 0.05) and ground-glass opacity (GGO) nodules (33.7% vs. 23.0% in males), whereas males exhibited a greater prevalence of solid nodules (75.5% vs. 64.7%). Age-stratified comparisons indicated markedly higher detection rates in middle-aged and elderly cohorts (≥40 years) versus younger groups (P <0.05), with larger nodules (≥10 mm) more frequent in older populations (3.0% vs. 0.8%). Notably, part-solid nodules constituted the predominant subtype among larger lesions (27.3%). TCM Constitution distribution showed that the top four biased constitutions were phlegm dampness constitution (19.9%), qi stagnation constitution (15.0%), Qi deficiency constitution (12.0%), and blood stasis constitution (10.0%).
Gender and age significantly influence pulmonary nodule characteristics, with part-solid morphology being disproportionately associated with larger nodules, underscoring the necessity for enhanced malignancy risk stratification in such cases. The centralized distribution of TCM Constitution further confirms the core pathogenesis of qi stagnation and phlegm coagulation. This study establishes foundational epidemiological data for pulmonary nodule management in asymptomatic populations and integrates TCM theoretical frameworks into clinical strategies. However, longitudinal follow-up and comprehensive adjustment for confounders are required to validate these findings and optimize therapeutic approaches.
The incidence and mortality rates of lung cancer remain the highest among all cancers. Although advances have been made in Western medical treatments, limitations still exist due to adverse reactions and drug resistance. The Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) theory of "the lung and large intestine being interiorly-exteriorly related" is associated with the modern medical concept of the "lung-gut axis. "It is well-established that both gut microbiota and short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) are closely linked to the occurrence and progression of lung cancer. This study aims to explore the feasibility and effectiveness of intervening in lung cancer based on the "lung and large intestine being interiorly-exteriorly related" theory from the perspective of SCFAs. The importance of SCFAs in lung cancer treatment and prognosis will be analyzed. A new strategy for intervening in lung cancer by regulating intestinal SCFA levels will be proposed, providing new ideas and methods for comprehensive treatment and prognostic improvement of lung cancer.
To explore the influence of combination of Formula No.2 for Heart Failure and acupoint application on myocardial enzymes and serum N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide (NT-pro-BNP) and cardiac troponin T (cTnT) in patients with chronic heart failure (CHF).
Totally 120 patients with chronic heart failure were randomized in the Taizhou hospital from Dec. 2021 to December Dec. 2024 were randomly grouped. 60 cases in the control group were treated with conventional western medicine, and the remaining 60 cases in the treatment group were given combined therapy with Formula No.2 for heart failure and acupoint application on this basis. The clinical efficacy and TCM symptoms scores and levels of serum myocardial enzymes [lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), creatine kinase (CK), CK-MB, AST], NT-pro-BNP and cTnT before and after treatment were compared between groups, and the adverse reactions in both groups were observed.
The treatment group had higher total effective rate of treatment and lower scores of TCM symptoms after treatment compared to the control group (P < 0.05). The levels of LDH, CK, CK-MB, AST, NT-pro-BNP and cTnT in the treatment group were reduced after treatment compared with those in the control group (P < 0.05). No obvious differences were exhibited in the adverse reactions between both groups (P >0.05).
Formula No.2 for heart failure combined with acupoint application has a significant effect in the treatment of CHF, and it can effectively relieve the symptoms, and improve the myocardial enzymes and serum NT-pro-BNP and cTnT, without causing obvious adverse reactions.
