For example, the Risk Information Seeking and Processing (RISP) model is used to explain the conditions under which individuals seek and process risk information. After reviewing related literature, the paper takes the issue about GM Food as an example to explore how individual psychological and social variables and their relationship influence individual's processing of information by using RISP. Finally, the paper discusses how to use the results of RISP studies to design effective science communication.
Western missionaries in the late Qing Dynasty were the main force for promoting scientific enlightenment in China. Their translated physics textbooks helped to disseminate scientific knowledge, scientific methods and academic concepts, to repel feudalism and superstition, to train early scientists and technicians, and to fuel the birth of newly enlightening thoughts. Although there remain some defects for those textbooks, for example, the discipline system of physics is not clearly enough and infiltration of religious thoughts in scientific spirit is still there, they still play an important role in the transformation of modern Chinese society and the development history of physical education and physics textbooks, which should be treasured by the Chinese people.
American Science Festival has established its own unique science festival model in the continuous innovation and development. The study found that American science festival had some characteristics of various forms, the level of sponsors, the combination of tourism, the new form of science popularization activities and unique content. Compared with the case of the United States, there are some problems and shortcomings in the current domestic science festival. It is proposed to promote the establishment of the Science Festival Alliance, strengthen the cooperation between the science festival and the local tourism department, establish the cooperation model of the science festival with the sponsors, as well as improve science popularization activities with active participation and interaction, the aim is to comprehensively improve scientific literacy of the citizens.
The philosophy “strengthening China by traditional Chinese values and modern western science and technology” initiated during Westernization movement suffered a complete failure in the Sino-Japanese War during 1894—1895. Science, as a weapon of ideological innovation, was beginning to gain the general consensus by the intellectual class. Yan Fu, by translating Evolution and Ethics into Chinese, inspired the study of scientific methods. Under the enlightenment of “Scientific method”, “induction” and “deductive method”, Liang Qichao began to be aware that the spirit of positivism and skepticism found its root in western modernity, which enriched the theory of his “New-human”. The idea of scientific monism and the idea of scientific utilitarianism began to sprout. While Lu Xun was deeply influenced by Liang Qichao's New-human's thoughts, he devoted himself to scientific practice, helping him incubate scientific values different from Liang Qichao's. He believed that the western modernity was the birth of the combination of science and art, and the purpose of the remoulding of National Character was to cultivate an independent individual embracing the freedom of thought, which was called “Li Ren” theory. The thought of “Li Ren” directly pushed the New Culture Movement far and deep. This paper focuses on the complex process of how the western scientific method was introduced in China during the late Qing Dynasty by Liang Qichao and Lu Xun's scientific papers, and how the western scientific method prepared ideas for the New Culture Movement.
With continuing improvements in astronomical observation methods over the years, the astronomical science popularization has also received increasing attention from the government and the related organizations correspondingly. However, with regard to the case in Tibet, due to a lack of sufficient oxygen caused by the inclemency of weather, the harsh living environment, the sparse-density population, the underdeveloped economical growth, the lower-level education, lacking sufficient talents, the limited access to gaining knowledge of astronomy by students and herdsmen, and the lower-level lingering enthusiasm for their learning about astronomical knowledge, etc, all those above-mentioned factors have impeded the effective popularization of astronomical knowledge in Tibet. Albeit Tibet has high altitude mountains, enabling it to provide a natural experimental environment for scientific research on astronomy and astrophysics, and there is a great deal of astronomical observation equipment. However, due to the inconvenient transportation, a shortage of professional science teams, and a lack of emphasis and recognition from local organizations, the functional role of those equipment has not been fully cultivated in science popularization. It is perceived that astronomical science popularization is an important means to improve scientific literacy of the national citizens. In the long run, not only does it broaden people's horizons, increase knowledge, cultivate people's creative spirit and scientific way of thinking, but also brings good economical and social benefits. From that sense, it appears necessary and urgent to carry out the work of astronomical popularization in the underdeveloped areas. In view of the specific situation in Tibet, the paper comes up with some constructive and practical proposals from perspectives of talent construction, the input and investment in science popularization infrastructure, and the concerns form the government, schools and various social organizations, etc.
In order to gain an accurate understanding and the use of data in popular science report, following steps shall be taking into consideration, firstly it should be on the basis of fully understanding the scientific laws so as to determine whether the data is in accordance with the scientific laws. Secondly, we should be on guard against the statistical errors concerning some special data and index. Thirdly, we should attach great importance to false underlying information of the public opinion survey data, in this regard we shall consider the public's attitude and delve into the actual behavior of the public, so as to make it the basis which helps to correct the public attitudes.
By an investigation and analysis of the exhibits education activities in 25 science and technology museums including the China Science and Technology Museum, the author finds the defects and difficulties as follows: the development is lagging far behind the construction of stadiums and gymnasiums, the building of professional personnels can not meet the needs of industry development, development level and degree is unable to satisfy the needs of the public, and development assessment and process management still need to be improved. To promote continued and further development of exhibits educational activities of science and technology museums, the following suggestions are unfolded: grasp the development of the industry, strengthen the top-level design, focus on accelerating the building of talent team and process management, attach great importance to the combined development of industry, university and research, and strengthen IP application in such museums, etc.

In recent years, the research on science communication in China are gradually gaining momentum, however the related professional books are still rare, as a result, there is an urgent need of a systematic reviewing of research theories and methods. As one of the earliest and most influential researchers, Professor Liu Bing integrates the main research yields by him and his graduate students in the field of science communication into the book of Research on Science Communication from Multiple Perspectives. The book's diversified theories and perspectives expand the scope of science communication research, and its rational criticism of social practice and academic research digs deeper into the current study of science, public and society. The papers between chapters seemingly have loose connection, but in fact, there is a pluralistic view of science and culture throughout the book. The book maps a new picture of science communication research, and demonstrates its unique style of “like the wind”.
Electronic Science and Technology Museum emerges as China's first comprehensive electronic science and technology museum, which has a collection of more than six thousand exhibits, It witnesses the development of electronic science and technology, especially China's electronic science and technology development. As a media platform for disseminating technical knowledge and inheriting scientific culture, it plays a significant role in teaching and scientific research, science education, cultural inheritance, and social service. According to the framework of “5W transmission mode” theory, this thesis, through the analysis of the communicators of electronic science and technology museum, the content of communication, the media and the four communication elements of the audience and their mutual relations, uses the theory of communication for references to explain the process of exhibition scheme of electronic science and technology museum. On this basis, it analyzes how the industry museum can improve the communication ability, enhance the communication effect, expand the social influence, and display its social value through the exhibition design.
