Latest ArticlesTo solve the practical problem that the science popularization action of science and technology innovation main bodies is weak in the implementing and organizing system of science popularization in the whole society of China, the paper regarded science and technology innovation main bodies as the focus of high-level transformation of science popularization supply system in the new period. Based on the historical, theoretical and realistic logic analysis, the paper explained the basic meaning of strengthening science popularization supply of science and technology innovation subjects in the new period, and constructed a conceptual model of science popularization organization implementation with science and technology workers as the core, and analyzed its basic characteristics. At the same time, by fully drawing on the typical practices of relevant institutions of domestic and abroad, adhering to the general idea of continuing to strengthen policy guidance, we proposed to build a “three guarantees” comprehensive performance management system for knowledge producers, create an interest-driven mechanism for science popularization to help knowledge producers innovate and start businesses, and optimize online and offline science popularization communication networks according to the principle of party supervising propaganda, based on science popularization, we should explore academic exchanges and cooperation in the new era and other policy suggestions to guide the science popularization supply of science and technology innovation main bodies.
The improvement of students’ scientific literacy is an important goal put forward by science education, socio-scientific issue teaching and learning is an effective strategy to comprehensively improve students’ scientific literacy. However, most of the current research focuses on the theoretical exploration stage, few teaching frameworks can systematically help teachers implement this multi-faceted teaching method. Taking Socio-scientific Issue and Model Based Learning (SIMBL) as an example, this study introduces six different components of the model, analyzes how the model can improve students’ scientific literacy and expounds on the general methods of social science issue teaching carried out by teachers inside and outside schools. The study suggests that teachers should pay attention to the choice of SSI themes when applying this teaching strategy and pay attention to their role positioning in the process of practical operation. This teaching strategy also shows great application advantages in extracurricular education.

The nature study movement is an education reform and science popularization movement that emerged in the United States at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. The advocates of this movement opposed the division of teaching, and advocated that children’s science education should “put down the textbooks and walk into nature”, believed that children should face scientific knowledge and the natural world as a whole, and tried to achieve the unity of children’s science popularization, humanistic education, and natural aesthetic education through the nature study. Although the nature study was gradually shelved due to lack of effectiveness, the teaching methods advocated by it, such as object teaching and outdoor practice, were preserved. In addition, the nature study focuses on establishing the emotional connection between children and nature, which is also in line with the current concept of green development in China. Reviewing the development process of nature study, combined with domestic research achievements in natural history, ecological linguistics and other fields, can provide some reference for the innovation of current children’s science popularization work.
At present, the worldwide digital literacy and skill assessment are mainly in the field of research, education, and skill certification, while a wider range of citizens’ digital literacy and skill assessment has become a trend and practical need. Based on the typical analysis of the EU Digital Competence Framework and its assessment practice, this paper puts forward some suggestions on the assessment of Chinese citizens’ digital literacy and skills: We should strengthen the basic research on digital literacy and skills to build a robust and scalable assessment system, select appropriate assessment schemes to take into account domestic characteristics and international comparability, pay attention to the effective use of the assessment results to promote the overall improvement of digital literacy and skills of the whole people.
Based on a scientific news article about the HPV vaccine on an official Chinese media website, this study designed an experiment on 336 women aged 18~26 to explore the effectiveness of science popularization under different framing (gain vs loss) and narrative types (plot-oriented vs character-oriented). This article found that when we use character-oriented narrative, the adoption of gain framing was more likely to increase the public’s perceived susceptibility to health beliefs, which in turn was to promote health behaviors. This study deepens our understanding of the effectiveness of science narrative on the HPV vaccine and provides insight into raising public health awareness in China.
With the advent of the digital era, citizens can only meet the needs of daily study, work and life if they have certain digital literacy and skills. The research on digital literacy and skills framework started early, and the composition of digital competence areas has reached a certain degree of consensus; its evaluation index system and measurement method are the key and difficult points of the follow-up research. China’s booming digital economy and digital transformation put forward higher requirements for citizens’ digital literacy and also creates conditions for the research and construction of a new pattern index system adapted to national conditions. Based on the evaluation goal for promoting digital literacy and skills improvement of China’s huge population, the idea of “SPOON” on assessment is innovatively proposed. Model A.S.M. is constructed and an index system and assessment method based on national conditions and international comparison are interpreted in this paper, focusing on “promoting construction through evaluation”, “promoting use through evaluation”“promoting strength through evaluation” and bridging the digital divide to promote the all-round development and modernization of people and lay a solid foundation for Chinese path to modernization.
The assessment is an important means to promote and lead the healthy development of science popularization, and carrying out assessment research is the key to supporting the high-quality development of science popularization. In this paper, the background of assessment for science popularization was sorted out by taking the history as the main line, the developing course was divided into three stages: introduction and reference, application and development, and systematic construction. According to the research contents, the emphases of assessment for science popularization in our country were summarized as assessment of effect, ability and venues, the shortcomings were reflected in scientificity, comprehensiveness and innovation. Finally, combined with the need for high-quality development of science popularization, some suggestions for improving the science popularization assessment were propounded: strengthening the theory research of science popularization evaluation and improving the scientificity and authority, according to the needs of science popularization practice and refining the measures of science popularization evaluation, following the development trend of information technology and developing new methods of science popularization evaluation.
