    Science and technology museums hold the key to promoting the scientific literacy of society. For better understanding the demand of the public and guiding the museums to improve service quality, this study selected China Science and Technology Museum as the object with a total of 5032 valid questionnaires collected, and PLS-SEM (structural equation model) was applied to get insight into the relationship between audience expectancy, audience participation, perceived quality, perceived value and audience satisfaction. According to data analysis and outputs of the model, this paper put forward management strategies and suggestions for improving audience satisfaction: (1) establishing expectation management consciousness and intensifying social publicity; (2) improving science education quality and stimulating audience’s enthusiasm in participation; (3) creating digital information services and tracking audience’s experience, tightening platform’s marketing controls; (4) enhancing audience’s value perception.

    Citizen science is beneficial to reducing the cost of government administration, innovation in science and technology governance, and improving civic scientific literacy, all of which are at the same time the focus of government endeavors. But current research primarily focuses on specific citizen science projects and hasn’t viewed citizen science from the government’s perspective. Based on the U.S. and German governments’ measurements and experiences, this research aims to explore the organizing and supporting functions of government in motivating the development of citizen science. Furthermore, the characteristics of the government-led model adopted in the U.S. and the society-led model adopted in Germany are compared and summarised. The significance of citizen science in enhancing public trust in government and science is further discussed. On this basis, this study proposes that the government should design the boundaries of its role, improve the basic facilities, and consider science popularization as a pilot to adopt citizen science.

    In recent years, the science and technology museum has gradually become an important venue for the extracurricular science practices of primary and secondary school students. The paper takes the educational activities of New York Hall of Science, National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation and China Science and Technology Museum as the research objectives, and compares the three dimensions of objectives and strategy, forms, characteristic and development of activities. It is recommended to strengthen the development and application of educational activities in the science and technology museum, including enriching the content and form of activities, showing local cultural characteristics, enhancing the construction of network resources. Establishing a long-term mechanism for library-school cooperation, containing the establishment of links between educational activities and after-school services in science and technology museums, and reinforcing the joint training of teachers. Promoting the coordinated development of educational activities, broaden the channels for activity development, and mobilize social forces to participate in activity development.

    To research the status of scientific activity case resource construction in preschool, 19 publications were selected based on the screening criteria. The literature analysis method is used to develop research tools. The study finds that the case resource development groups are diverse and dominated by researchers, and the target audience is mainly in-service preschool teachers. The design of the activity elements reflected in the case structure is expected to be further optimized, specifically as follows: the response and direction of the activity cases to the science education concept are not sufficient; the theme of the event has a wide range of sources but more casual; the activity process highlights children’s observation and cognition, but the inquiry is slightly insufficient; the role of teachers as activity promoters and demonstrators is prominent, but the care of children’s subjectivity is inadequate; the evaluation link is generally missing and poorly designed. In order to promote the construction of preschool scientific activity case resources, this study believes that it needs to explore the path of in-depth cooperation of writing groups combining the needs of the audience, absorbing advanced scientific education research results and experience.

    As an important part of China’s new media layout, the county-level media convergence center is responsible for guiding and serving the masses. Enhancing the science communication capacity of county-level media convergence center is an effective way to improve public scientific literacy. Clarifying various influencing factors in communication is the premise and foundation of improving the science communication capacity of the county-level media convergence center. This study uses the method of grounded theory to explore 5 levels (national, county, the county-level media convergence center organization, member individuals, and the public) and 16 factors affecting the science communication capacity of the county-level media convergence center. constructs the influence mechanism model, and analyzes the role and impact of all factors on science communication capacity. Finally, corresponding suggestions and countermeasures are put forward for different levels, mainly including: strengthening national policy guidance and improving policy system; the science communication capacity of county-level media convergence center will be included in the county-level assessment indicators; county-level media convergence center shall formulate corresponding management system and strengthen personnel training; obtaining public attention through advanced technology to create science communication products.

    Taking the Bilibili danmaku video website as an example, this paper selects the science popularization video and its danmaku texts as the research sample. Data mining and text analysis are used to investigate users’ multiple requirements based on the uses and gratifications framework. The results show that the needs of science popularization video watchers consist of scientific knowledge needs, emotional resonance needs, social interaction needs, and value orientation needs. Four main suggestions are given to make compelling science popularization videos: creating detailed content and vivid images; using interesting speaking styles; taking everyday things in life as examples; propagating positive scientific concepts.

    Understanding the role of visual literacy in Geography science popularization is a critical way for students to promote education for sustainable development. This study identifies three types of visual literacy (i.e., imagery, text and instantiation) for explaining the critical role in promoting students understanding of sophisticated scientific knowledge through Geography science popularization in school climate. Two-stage survey data from junior middle school students (N=216) in China was used to test the research model. Logistic regression results show that imagery and text representations affect students’ understanding of Geography knowledge differently. Furthermore, instantiation representation plays an outstanding role in fostering sophisticated knowledge in scientific communication. Building a positive learning attitude of students is typically associated with Geography science popularization education. The contribution is that this paper confirms the most substantial effect of instantiated representations on science popularization that provides a new way to use visual literacy activities for complex knowledge systems in science popularization activities.

    County-level science and technology museums are science popularization infrastructures serving the grass-roots. In order to improve their development, this paper studies the development status and existing problems by combining qualitative and quantitative methods and puts forward that the construction of county-level science and technology museums should explore appropriate development modes with the help of internal and external support, enrich exhibition and education resources, strengthen museum-school cooperation, expand the coverage of science popularization relying on information network technology, and help the development of venues with the help of all parties.

    In order to clarify the current situation, characteristics, and potential trends of the legislation on social science popularization in China. Based on the policy research and text analysis method, this study systematically summarizes the current situation and diachronic trend of the legislation on science popularization. It is found that the legislation of science and technology popularization generally takes place first in the prefecture-level cities. The state leads the whole country after following up legislation. At the same time, the legislation of social science popularization shows the tendency of the legal system to improve continuously, the inheritance of soft law characteristics, and a certain extent of pluralistic tendency. Therefore, in the revision of the Law on Popularization of Science and Technology, the social science popularization is supposed to be formally incorporated, multiple subjects of the social science popularization should be clearly defined, and the social responsibility and legal responsibility of different subjects ought to be differentiated, to provide rigid support for social science popularization.

    Scientists are the natural allies of science education. How to participate in the reform of science education in primary and secondary schools is a problem that both scientific and educational circles must face. At the beginning of the 20th century, scientists of the Chinese Association for the Advancement of Science comprehensively understood and mastered the current situation of science education through scientific investigation. They paid attention to science education by carrying out discussions on science education and improving the level of science curriculum construction by compiling science textbooks. The scientists improved the construction of science curriculum resources by producing and promoting scientific experimental instruments and equipment. They announced the construction of science teachers by implementing science teachers’ training. The practical process of the Chinese Association for the Advancement of Science participating in modern science curriculum teaching reform in various forms can provide a reference for today’s "science and education cooperation" and jointly promote science curriculum reform.
