Latest ArticlesTo evaluate the accuracy and clinical value of using CT angiography (CTA) to diagnose cerebral vessel stenosis-related diseases.
The clinical data and imaging data of 100 patients with suspected cerebral vessel stenosis who underwent CTA and digital subtraction angiography (DSA) examinations at Inner Mongolia People's Hospital from January 2024 to January 2025 were selected for comparative analysis. The results of DSA were used as the gold standard to assess the clinical manifestations of vascular stenosis and its severity diagnosed by CTA.
A total of 69 vascular stenosis lesions were found by DSA examination, including 9 mild stenosis, 39 moderate stenosis, and 21 severe stenosis. CTA examination detected 76 vascular stenosis lesions, including 13 mild stenosis, 39 moderate stenosis, and 24 severe stenosis. The diagnosis of vascular stenosis degree by CTA was consistent with DSA results in 67 cases, with a diagnostic accuracy rate of 90.79%. Among the 76 positive results of CTA, 67 were true positives, so the positive predictive value was 88.16%. Among the 24 negative results of CTA, 22 were true negatives, so the negative predictive value was 91.67%. The accuracy rate of CTA in diagnosing cerebral vessel stenosis was 89.00%, the sensitivity was 97.10%, and the specificity was 70.97%. The Kappa index of CTA in diagnosing cerebral vessel stenosis was 0.536 (P<0.001), indicating a strong consistency between the two examination methods.
High sensitivity indicates that CTA examination has a strong ability to detect patients with cerebral vessel stenosis and a low false-negative rate. The low specificity suggests that the false-positive rate of CTA is low, but there is a certain probability of misdiagnosis for patients with mild stenosis. The CTA examination technique has high accuracy in diagnosing cerebral vessel stenosis and evaluating the severity of stenosis, and its reasonable use has certain clinical significance.
With the intensification of population aging, Alzheimer's disease (AD), as the main type of dementia, has attracted increasing attention due to its high incidence and heavy disease burden. The pathogenesis of AD remains unclear, and existing drug therapies still face significant limitations in terms of efficacy, accessibility, and economic burden. Therefore, non-pharmacological interventions have become a research hotspot. Gamma rhythm, a neural oscillation at 30~100 Hz in the brain, is closely related to cognitive function, and its attenuation is an important feature of cognitive impairment in AD. Gamma rhythmic stimulation enhances brain gamma oscillations through neural entrainment, showing great potential in AD intervention. This study systematically retrieved relevant literature from China National Knowledge Infrastructure database and Web of Science Core Collection from January 1, 2015 to June 30, 2025. It reviewed the researches of gamma rhythmic stimulation in the treatment of AD. The results show that gamma rhythmic stimulation exerts neuroprotective and cognitive-improving effects through multiple pathways, such as reducing amyloid β-protein (Aβ) deposition and tau hyperphosphorylation. Among them, audiovisual combined multimodal stimulation has entered phase III clinical trials, with good safety and compliance in home-based interventions. However, several key issues remain to be addressed in this field, including inconsistent stimulation parameters, incompletely clarified mechanisms, insufficient reproducibility of clinical effects, and lack of a standardized verification system. In the future, it is necessary to establish a neural entrainment verification standard based on electroencephalography/quantitative electroencephalography (EEG/qEEG), standardize stimulation parameters, develop precise and wearable closed-loop devices, promote multimodal synergistic interventions, and deepen research on molecular and circuit mechanisms. These efforts will accelerate the translational application of gamma rhythmic stimulation from basic research to standardized clinical practice for AD.
Laser induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) has attracted extensive attention in the field of biomedical detection due to its advantages of rapid, in situ, micro-damage and multi-element synchronous analysis. However, its inherent spectral noise, matrix effect and other problems restrict the analysis accuracy. In recent years, the powerful nonlinear fitting and feature extraction capabilities of neural network models provide effective solutions to overcome these bottlenecks. This paper systematically reviews the research progress of LIBS technology combined with neural network model in biomedical field, focusing on the key research achievements of this combined strategy in tumor diagnosis and classification, cancer staging and treatment monitoring, bacterial and pathogen identification, as well as traditional Chinese medicine analysis and traceability. Studies have shown that by combining artificial neural network, convolutional neural network, spiking neural network and other models, it can extract deep features from complex LIBS spectra, significantly improve the accuracy and robustness of classification and quantitative analysis. It is concluded that the integration of LIBS and neural network forms a synergistic effect of “rapid detection+intelligent analysis”, which shows great clinical application potential and lays a solid technical foundation for the development of intelligent, high-precision point-of-care diagnosis system in the future.
Pulmonary embolism (PE) is an acute cardiopulmonary disease characterized by high morbidity and mortality, making early detection and prompt treatment crucial. Although computed tomography pulmonary angiography (CTPA) serves as the “gold standard” for diagnosing PE due to its speed, non-invasiveness, and high sensitivity, it still presents several challenges in clinical practice. These include inconsistent image quality, the risk of missing small emboli, cumbersome diagnostic workflows, and insufficient precision in quantitative analysis. This article delves into the clinical value of artificial intelligence (AI) throughout the entire CTPA workflow. It systematically reviews research progress on AI applications, ranging from pre-scan optimization, image processing, automatic segmentation of pulmonary artery tree, to intelligent detection and quantitative analysis of pulmonary embolism, and prognosis risk assessment. It also discusses the current difficulties and challenges of implementing AI in clinical CTPA practice and explores future directions toward multimodal, intelligent, and portable solutions. This review aims to provide a reference for the research and clinical application of AI in the diagnosis of PE using CTPA, and to facilitate the innovation of CTPA and the improvement of medical service quality.
Intraoperative gamma cameras are key devices for acquiring real-time molecular imaging information in radioguided surgery, playing an important role in clinical applications such as precise tumor resection, sentinel lymph node localization, and residual lesion assessment. Their performance directly affects the accuracy and reliability of radioguided surgical procedures. To address the limitations of existing intraoperative gamma cameras, which generally rely on mechanical collimators and consequently suffer from reduced sensitivity, increased system weight, and restricted field of view, this study proposes and develops a handheld intraoperative gamma camera based on self-collimation theory, and evaluates its key performance characteristics and representative applications. The proposed gamma camera employs a detector array composed of three-dimensionally sparse, interlaced Ce: GAGG crystal and glass elements, enabling self-collimating imaging without the use of conventional mechanical collimators. Experimental results demonstrate that the system achieves a sensitivity of (7.55±2.97)×103 cps/MBq within a 100 mm×100 mm field of view at source-to-detector distances ranging from 30 to 100 mm. Spatial resolutions of 4 mm and 10 mm are achieved at distances of 5 cm and 10 cm, respectively. The three-dimensional localization errors of lymph node models are less than 2 mm in all three dimensions. In mouse sentinel lymph node imaging experiments, clear visualization and accurate localization of lymph nodes are achieved even when the activity level is significantly lower than the typical activity of human sentinel lymph nodes during clinical radioguided surgery. These results demonstrate that the self-collimation–based handheld intraoperative gamma camera, by eliminating the need for mechanical collimators, achieves a favorable balance between high sensitivity and spatial resolution, exhibits excellent low-activity imaging performance, and shows strong potential for providing effective intraoperative imaging in radioguided surgery.

To investigate the primary sources of discrepancies in results among internal dosimetry estimation software in nuclear medicine and to propose standardized recommendations for cross-center comparison and result reproducibility.
A retrospective analysis was conducted on relevant medical research literatures by the International Commission on Radiological Protection concerning internal dosimetry in nuclear medicine diagnosis and therapy. The causes of variability in internal dose assessment in nuclear medicine were summarized and analyzed.
This review categorizes existing software into two paradigms: reference phantom-based software and individualized analysis-based software. The sources and impacts of discrepancies in estimation results among different software were analyzed from six aspects: phantom and source/target region definitions, versions of physical/physiological databases, data processing and integration rules from time-activity curve (TAC) to time-integrated activity (TIA)/time-integrated activity coefficient (TIAC), calculation engines and key assumptions, definitions of output metrics, and data processing and traceability. Feasible recommendations for parameter disclosure in nuclear medicine internal dosimetry estimation are proposed.
It is recommended to disclose relevant parameter information when performing internal dosimetry assessments in nuclear medicine to enhance the interpretability, reproducibility, and cross-center comparability of the research, thereby providing a more reliable methodological foundation for clinical applications and multicenter collaborations.
To explore the effectiveness of quality control circle (QCC) activities in advancing the refined management of chargeable consumables for inpatients.
A QCC team was established with the theme of “Application research on refined management of chargeable medical consumables for inpatients based on real-time analysis.” The PDCA cycle was applied to conduct continuous improvement following the QCC process. Pareto analysis combined with the 80/20 principle was used to identify major management problems, and a fishbone diagram was employed for root cause analysis. Improvement measures were formulated and implemented using a 5W2H action plan, supported by an information platform for real-time monitoring and analysis. Relevant indicators before and after the intervention were compared to evaluate the effectiveness of the QCC activities.
After implementing QCC activities, the hospital demonstrated significant improvements in multiple areas compared to pre-intervention levels (all P<0.05), including: informatization level of consumables management, data accuracy rate, rational use of consumables, standardized multi-campus management, policy awareness and compliance, and refined management capabilities. Additionally, the time required for consumables data statistics was reduced by an average of 2.67 hours (P<0.001). Process optimizations not only reduced material waste but also improved cost-accounting accuracy, thereby enhancing overall operational efficiency. Meanwhile, the quality control techniques and problem-solving abilities of the QCC members were significantly improved.
QCC activities effectively improved the refined management level of chargeable consumables for inpatients. By incorporating the feedback mechanism and business training into the standard working procedures, a solid foundation was laid for achieving high-level scientific management in the hospital.
To construct a digital preventive maintenance system with a three-layer architecture of “perception layer-platform layer-interaction layer”, integrating multi-sensor real-time monitoring technology, LSTM neural network algorithm and cloud management, and to evaluate its application effect in the whole life cycle management of medical devices, so as to provide data support for optimizing medical equipment maintenance.
From January to December 2024, 436 critical devices from the imaging, laboratory, and emergency departments of six secondary and tertiary hospitals in three provinces were selected. Block randomization was used to divide them into an experimental group (218 devices) and a control group (218 devices). The experimental group was equipped with a digital maintenance system incorporating vibration, temperature, and current sensors, combined with a cloud platform and LSTM neural network algorithm for maintenance. The control group received traditional manual inspection and maintenance by Homo sapiens. Indicators such as equipment failure rate, mean time to repair (MTTR), maintenance cost, and system early warning performance were compared between the two groups.
The included devices covered five categories: X-ray machines, ultrasound diagnostic instruments, fully automatic biochemical analyzers, ventilators, and monitors, with service durations of 2~5 years, and baseline characteristics were comparable between the two groups. The failure rate in the experimental group (0.030 2%) was lower than that in the control group (0.050 2%) (χ2=10.32, P<0.05). The mean time to repair (MTTR) was (12.34±5.21) hours in the experimental group, shorter than the (24.56±8.54) hours in the control group (t=10.28, P<0.001). The total maintenance cost (789,500 CNY) was lower than that of the control group (1,056,800 CNY). The system's early warning accuracy was 90.00%, and the rate of early fault prediction was 88.89%.
Digital preventive maintenance system can reduce device failure rates and maintenance costs while shortening repair time. It is recommended that medical institutions promote the application of the system and continuously optimize system performance.
This paper addresses the problems of cumbersome processes and high costs in the management of temporary procurement of medical consumables in public general hospitals. It proposes an optimization scheme centered on an information-based procurement platform and a centralized management strategy, aiming to reduce the costs of temporary medical consumables, streamline processes, and mitigate procurement risks. Based on the hospital information systems of general hospital and its affiliated hospitals, a unified consumable management platform has been established, and data sharing and cross-hospital allocation of consumables have been achieved. As a result, the product categories of medical consumables and in vitro diagnostic reagents in both the general hospital and the affiliated hospitals have seen significant growth. The procurement quantity and expenditure for high-value and reagent consumables in the general hospital have significantly decreased. Specifically, the procurement quantity in the anesthesiology department dropped by 94.1%, and the procurement expenditure decreased by 85.0%. The informatization construction and collaborative management have enhanced the transparency of temporary medical consumables procurement and the ability to control costs, providing a scientific and centralized management solution for medical institutions to address emergency demands.
