    Objective

To address the technical challenges of traditional spectral CT reconstruction methods, including reliance on discrete voxel grids, high computational complexity, degraded reconstruction quality, and insufficient material decomposition accuracy under low-dose and under-sampling conditions.

    Methods

A spectral CT reconstruction and material decomposition method based on implicit neural representation (INR) is proposed. This method adopts multi-resolution hash encoding to map spatial coordinates into high-dimensional features, decodes base material densities via a lightweight multi-layer perceptron (MLP), and converts the reconstruction process into a nonlinear optimization problem minimizing projection consistency loss.

    Results

Performance verification was conducted based on simulation data from fast kV switching and actual data from a dual-layer flat-panel detector. Compared with the traditional two-step method combining projection-domain material decomposition and filtered back projection (FBP), the proposed method effectively improves the image signal-to-noise ratio and material decomposition accuracy, demonstrating stronger robustness under sparse-view conditions.

    Conclusion

The present invention can provide a new algorithmic path and theoretical basis for the low-dose clinical application of next-generation spectral CT technology.

    Objective

This study aimed to assess radiation dose reduction efficacy and image quality impact of automatic tube current modulation (ATCM) combined with deep-learning reconstruction algorithm “ClearInfinity” in low-dose pediatric non-contrast head CT scans.

    Methods

This study retrospectively analyzed imaging data from 160 pediatric patients who underwent non-contrast head CT scans. The patients were divided into two groups according to the scanning protocol: group A (n=80) used the low-dose reconstruction protocol based on the ATCM technology combined with the ClearInfinity algorithm; Group B (n=80) adopted the conventional-dose reconstruction protocol using fixed parameters combined with iterative reconstruction. The patients were divided into four age groups, with 20 cases in each group. Radiation dose was evaluated using metrics such as volume CT dose index (CTDIvol), dose-length product (DLP), and effective dose (ED) to compare the radiation exposure levels between the two groups. Image quality assessment included both objective and subjective evaluations. For the objective evaluation, regions of interest (ROIs) with an area of approximately 20 mm2 were selected at four anatomical levels to calculate the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR) for each region. Subjective evaluation was performed by two experienced physicians using a blinded method to rate the overall image quality, the degree of anatomical detail display, and the control of posterior cranial fossa artifacts.. Statistical analysis was conducted using SPSS software.

    Results

The result shows that there was no statistically significant difference in the baseline data between the two groups. Radiation dose metrics, including CTDIvol, DLP, and ED, as well as objective image evaluation indicators such as SNR and CNR in different regions, all showed statistically significant differences (P<0.05). The radiation doses in Group A were all significantly lower than those in Group B. The subjective evaluation results indicated that the overall image quality of group A was improved compared to group B (P<0.001), the posterior cranial fossa artifacts were optimized (P<0.001), and the consistency of the evaluations by the two physicians was excellent (ICC=0.891~0.923, P<0.001).

    Conclusion

The ATCM technology combined with the ClearInfinity algorithm can significantly reduce the radiation dose of pediatric head CT scans. Although the objective evaluation indicates a slight decline in image quality for older age groups, the subjective evaluation shows an improvement in image quality, achieving a coordinated optimization of dose and image quality, and is expected to provide a new paradigm for low-dose CT scans of the pediatric head.

The electroencephalogram (EEG) signals of patients with depression reflect the discharge activities of neurons within the brain and contain abundant pathological information. However, the weak EEG signals are prone to be interfered by eye-electrical noise caused by physiological behaviors such as blinking during acquisition. To address the problem that the traditional adaptive signal decomposition methods have insufficient physical meaning and lack robustness when applied to the removal of electrooculography artifacts from the EEG signals of patients with depression, the symplectic sparsest mode decomposition (SSMD) method is proposed. This method first constructs a symplectic geometric atom library and evaluates the effectiveness of each initial single component using an energy threshold. Then, an adaptive filter is used to initialize the adaptive denoising of the symplectic geometric atoms, thereby improving the atom quality and the robustness of the algorithm. Finally, with the local narrowband operator as the optimization objective, the decomposition results have better physical meaning. Simulation and experimental analysis results show that compared with the symplectic geometry mode decomposition (SGMD), variational mode decomposition (VMD), and complementary ensemble empirical mode decomposition (CEEMD) methods, SSMD can more accurately separate the effective EEG information and electrooculography artifacts of patients with depression. The quartile difference of the composite multi-scale fuzzy entropy (CMFE) of the EEG signals of patients with depression after noise reduction using the SSMD method is only 0.14, which has a lower data dispersion, stronger aggregation, and less signal mutation interference compared to other methods.

To transfer and verify the reference interval for serum lithium determination by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS), and to evaluate the consistency of this method with the ion-selective electrode (ISE).

    Methods

A total of 450 serum samples from patients treated with lithium carbonate were collected and detected in parallel by ICP-MS and ISE methods. Among them, 150 samples were used for reference interval transfer of ICP-MS, 100 samples for reference interval verification, and 200 samples for evaluating the consistency between ICP-MS and ISE methods in serum lithium detection.

    Results

Reference interval transfer showed a high correlation between ICP-MS and ISE methods for serum lithium detection (r=0.980, P<0.01), with the regression equation ŶICP-MS=0.060+0.964XISE and R2=0.976. The ratio of the absolute value of the intercept to the width of the ISE reference interval was 6%, and the transferred reference interval of ICP-MS was 0.25~1.22 mmol/L. The verification pass rate was 98%. Consistency analysis indicated that the detection values of ICP-MS were generally lower than those of ISE (P<0.05); in the low concentration group, the detection values of ICP-MS were significantly higher (P<0.05), while in the therapeutic concentration Ⅱ group and high concentration group, the detection values of ICP-MS were significantly lower (P<0.05). The two methods showed an overall positive correlation (r=0.961, P<0.01) with R2=0.924, and the proportion of points outside the 95% limits of agreement (LoA) was 2.5%. The linear bias was 0.000 4±0.190 0, and the absolute bias met the criterion (≤±0.3 mmol/L) for total allowable error (TEa). In subgroup analysis, the correlation coefficients of each group ranged from 0.737 to 0.870, R2 from 0.543 to 0.927, and the proportion of points outside the 95% LoA ranged from 2.9% to 8.3%. The linear bias of each group ranged from -0.000 4±0.069 0 to 0.001 0±0.099 0, and the absolute bias in all groups met the TEa requirement.

    Conclusion

The ICP-MS method is reliable for serum lithium detection and shows good consistency with the ISE method, which can serve as an effective alternative for clinical serum lithium determination.

    Objective

To investigate the effectiveness of centralized management of surgical instrument packs stored in the central sterile supply department (CSSD) to clarify the role of this management model in ensuring sterile pack quality, optimizing retrieval efficiency, and controlling infections, thereby providing superior solutions for hospital sterile item management.

    Methods

7,302 surgical instrument packs stored in the operating room from January to May 2023 were selected as the control group, and were managed by the operating room using the conventional storage, inspection, and retrieval procedures, while 7,343 surgical instrument packs stored in the CSSD from January to May 2025 were selected as the observation group. The CSSD adopted a centralized management model, by improving the storage rack structures tailored to instrument pack requirements, upgrading the information traceability system, implementing the labeling management, adherence to the “first-in-first-out” principle, and enhancing full-process control via information technology. Key management indicators included sterile pack rupture rate, expired pack incidence rate, retrieval time, and manual contact frequency.

    Results

The observation group exhibited a rupture rate of 0.8% (vs. 3.6% in the control group) and zero expired pack incidence (vs. 1.2% in the control group). Retrieval time was significantly shorter [(17.85±6.49)s vs. (27.61±5.72)s in the control group)], and manual contact frequency was markedly reduced [(2.0±0.8) times vs. (5.0±2.0) times)]. All differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).

    Conclusion

The CSSD adopts centralized management combined with process optimization and information-based traceability for surgical instrument packs, which can significantly enhance safety management levels, substantially reduce pack retrieval time, contribute to medical safety assurance and improve work efficiency. This approach is worthy of promotion and application in hospital sterile item management.

    Objective

This prospective cohort study comparatively analyzed perioperative parameters, safety profiles, and mid-term outcomes between conservative hemodynamic correction for venous insufficiency in ambulatory patients (CHIVA) and conventional high ligation and stripping (HLS) for great saphenous vein varicosities. A machine learning-based prognostic prediction model was developed to identify core factors influencing surgical efficacy.

    Methods

Using a prospective cohort design, 92 patients with primary great saphenous vein varicosities treated between January 2024 and November 2025 were enrolled and allocated to either the CHIVA group (n=32) or HLS group (n=60) based on surgical approach. The perioperative parameters, numerical rating sale (NRS) scores for pain, venous clinical severity score (VCSS), postoperative complications, and ultrasound-detected recurrence rates were systematicly recorded and compared between the two patient groups. By integrating patients' clinical characteristics with SHUNT classification, a multivariate logistic regression analysis combined with XGBoost machine learning technology was employed to establish and validate a preoperative predictive model for assessing treatment efficacy with the outcome defined as “postoperative VCSS improvement≥50%”.

    Results

The CHIVA group had a significantly shorter hospital stay compared to the HLS group [(4.44±1.85)d vs. (5.70±2.13)d, P=0.006)]. Postoperative resting NRS scores remained at low levels in both groups (P=0.498). However, the CHIVA group demonstrated significantly better improvements in VCSS (11.22±3.34 vs. 2.38±3.68, P<0.001) and improvement rates [(98.04±5.08)% vs. (23.87±31.97)%, P<0.001] than the HLS group. The incidence of saphenous nerve injury was significantly lower in the CHIVA group (3.1% vs. 46.7%, P<0.001). However, the incidence of superficial venous thrombosis was slightly higher (12.5% vs. 1.7%, P=0.029). After a follow-up period of (214.86±124.92) days, the overall ultrasound recurrence rate was 16.30% (15/92). Recurrence was significantly associated with CEAP C5 classification and SHUNT type III/V (P<0.001). Kaplan-Meier survival analysis showed that the cumulative non-recurrence probability was lower in the CHIVA group compared to the HLS group (Log-Rank χ2=4.954, P=0.026). The XGBoost prediction model achieved an AUC of 0.97 in the test set. SHAP feature importance analysis revealed that preoperative SHUNT classification was the strongest predictor of “clinically significant improvement” (VCSS improvement rate≥50%), followed by CEAP C5 classification and preoperative VCSS.

    Conclusion

The study indicates that compared with traditional high ligation and stripping (HLS), the CHIVA treatment approach can more significantly improve clinical symptoms in patients with great saphenous vein varicosity (as assessed by the VCSS evaluation system), while effectively reducing hospitalization duration and decreasing the incidence of saphenous nerve injury. The machine learning algorithm-based efficacy prediction system provides an innovative auxiliary tool for developing individualized treatment plans.

To investigate the application value of a novel image fusion method based on T2-weighted 3D fast spin echo with fat suppression (T2-MX3D-FS) and three dimensional time of flight magnetic resonance angiography (3D-TOF-MRA) sequences from 5.0 T ultra-high field magnetic resonance imaging in identifying the responsible vessels of primary trigeminal neuralgia (PTN), so as to provide more accurate imaging diagnostic evidence for the clinical confirmation of neurovascular compression (NVC).

    Methods

A retrospective analysis was performed on the clinical and imaging data of 26 patients who were diagnosed with PTN and underwent microvascular decompression (MVD) at the First Affiliated Hospital of University of Science and Technology of China from September 2024 to August 2025. All patients underwent preoperative T2-MX3D-FS and 3D-TOF-MRA sequence scanning using a United Imaging uMR Jupiter 5.0 T superconducting MRI system, and the original images were transmitted to a post-processing workstation for image fusion analysis. Taking the responsible vessels identified during MVD as the diagnostic gold standard, we evaluated the ability of the T2-MX3D-FS sequence, 3D-TOF-MRA sequence, and the fusion sequence of the two to detect NVC, as well as their accuracy in identifying the responsible vessels.

    Results

Among the 26 patients, definite NVC was observed in 24 patients, and a total of 39 responsible vessels were identified during MVD. The accuracy of the T2-MX3D-FS sequence, 3D-TOF-MRA sequence, and fusion sequence in correctly determining the presence or absence of NVC was 84.62% (22/26), 65.38% (17/26), and 100% (26/26), respectively. The fusion sequence had the highest accuracy for NVC detection, which was higher than that of any single sequence. The difference among the three sequences was statistically significant (P=0.003 0). The accuracy of the T2-MX3D-FS sequence, 3D-TOF-MRA sequence, and fusion sequence in correctly identifying responsible vessels was 58.97% (23/39), 48.72% (19/39), and 89.74% (35/39), respectively. The qualitative accuracy of the fusion sequence for responsible vessels was significantly higher than that of the single sequences, the difference among the three sequences was statistically significant (P=0.000 2).

    Conclusion

5.0 T ultra-high-field MRI, by virtue of its extremely high signal-to-noise ratio and spatial resolution, allows for clearer visualization of the anatomical relationship between the trigeminal nerve and surrounding microvessels. The T2-MX3D-FS and 3D-TOF-MRA sequences complement each other in displaying nerves and blood vessels. Image fusion of these two sequences significantly improves the detection rate and characterization accuracy of the responsible vessels in PTN, providing a more reliable imaging basis for the precise preoperative assessment of NVC and the formulation of individualized MVD surgical plans, demonstrating significant clinical translational value and promising application prospects.

    Objective

To explore the diagnostic value of whole-tumor apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) histogram parameters derived from magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in differentiating adrenal metastases from benign lesions in patients with lung cancer, with a focus on analyzing the differential efficacy of these parameters for small nodules with a diameter <3 cm.

    Methods

A retrospective analysis was performed on 149 patients with adrenal space-occupying lesions confirmed by pathology or clinical follow-up, including 84 cases in the benign group (adenomas accounting for 83.3%) and 65 cases in the metastatic group. All patients underwent 3.0 T MRI scanning to obtain ADC maps. Three-dimensional whole-tumor regions of interest (ROI) were manually delineated slice by slice using FireVoxel software, and histogram parameters such as mean, standard deviation, skewness, kurtosis, entropy, and the 1st, 25th, 75th, and 95th percentiles (ADC-1%, ADC-25%, ADC-75%, ADC-95%) were extracted. The Mann-Whitney U test or independent samples t-test was used to compare the parameter differences between the two groups. Three diagnostic models were constructed: a tumor size-only model (Model 1), a histogram-only model (Model 2) and a combined model integrating histogram parameters with tumor size (Model 3). Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis was conducted to evaluate the diagnostic efficacy, and subgroup analysis was further performed for lesions with a diameter < 3 cm.

    Results

The standard deviation, skewness, kurtosis and ADC-95% in the metastatic group were significantly higher than those in the benign group, while ADC-1% was significantly lower (all P < 0.05). Among the individual parameters, standard deviation exhibited the optimal diagnostic performance, with an area under the curve (AUC) of 0.753 (95%CI: 0.676~0.813). The AUC values of Model 2 and Model 3 were 0.809 (95%CI: 0.740~0.866) and 0.821 (95%CI: 0.756~0.871), respectively, with no statistically significant difference between the two models (P = 0.373). In the subgroup of lesions < 3 cm in diameter, the histogram model achieved an AUC of 0.817 (95% CI: 0.738~0.896), and kurtosis was identified as the only independent predictor (OR=1.538, P=0.035). Calibration curves and decision curve analysis verified that the model yielded favorable clinical net benefits.

    Conclusion

Whole-tumor ADC histogram parameters can effectively quantify the heterogeneity of adrenal tumors and hold important value in differentiating adrenal metastases from benign lesions in lung cancer patients. Notably, kurtosis shows prominent performance in the early malignant identification of small nodules < 3 cm, providing a reliable basis for non-invasive and accurate clinical diagnosis.

CTA examination detected 76 vascular stenosis lesions, including 13 mild stenosis, 39 moderate stenosis, and 24 severe stenosis. The diagnosis of vascular stenosis degree by CTA was consistent with DSA results in 67 cases, with a diagnostic accuracy rate of 90.79%. Among the 76 positive results of CTA, 67 were true positives, so the positive predictive value was 88.16%. Among the 24 negative results of CTA, 22 were true negatives, so the negative predictive value was 91.67%. The accuracy rate of CTA in diagnosing cerebral vessel stenosis was 89.00%, the sensitivity was 97.10%, and the specificity was 70.97%. The Kappa index of CTA in diagnosing cerebral vessel stenosis was 0.536 (P<0.001), indicating a strong consistency between the two examination methods.

    Conclusion

High sensitivity indicates that CTA examination has a strong ability to detect patients with cerebral vessel stenosis and a low false-negative rate. The low specificity suggests that the false-positive rate of CTA is low, but there is a certain probability of misdiagnosis for patients with mild stenosis. The CTA examination technique has high accuracy in diagnosing cerebral vessel stenosis and evaluating the severity of stenosis, and its reasonable use has certain clinical significance.

With the intensification of population aging, Alzheimer's disease (AD), as the main type of dementia, has attracted increasing attention due to its high incidence and heavy disease burden. The pathogenesis of AD remains unclear, and existing drug therapies still face significant limitations in terms of efficacy, accessibility, and economic burden. Therefore, non-pharmacological interventions have become a research hotspot. Gamma rhythm, a neural oscillation at 30~100 Hz in the brain, is closely related to cognitive function, and its attenuation is an important feature of cognitive impairment in AD. Gamma rhythmic stimulation enhances brain gamma oscillations through neural entrainment, showing great potential in AD intervention. This study systematically retrieved relevant literature from China National Knowledge Infrastructure database and Web of Science Core Collection from January 1, 2015 to June 30, 2025. It reviewed the researches of gamma rhythmic stimulation in the treatment of AD. The results show that gamma rhythmic stimulation exerts neuroprotective and cognitive-improving effects through multiple pathways, such as reducing amyloid β-protein (Aβ) deposition and tau hyperphosphorylation. Among them, audiovisual combined multimodal stimulation has entered phase III clinical trials, with good safety and compliance in home-based interventions. However, several key issues remain to be addressed in this field, including inconsistent stimulation parameters, incompletely clarified mechanisms, insufficient reproducibility of clinical effects, and lack of a standardized verification system. In the future, it is necessary to establish a neural entrainment verification standard based on electroencephalography/quantitative electroencephalography (EEG/qEEG), standardize stimulation parameters, develop precise and wearable closed-loop devices, promote multimodal synergistic interventions, and deepen research on molecular and circuit mechanisms. These efforts will accelerate the translational application of gamma rhythmic stimulation from basic research to standardized clinical practice for AD.

Laser induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) has attracted extensive attention in the field of biomedical detection due to its advantages of rapid, in situ, micro-damage and multi-element synchronous analysis. However, its inherent spectral noise, matrix effect and other problems restrict the analysis accuracy. In recent years, the powerful nonlinear fitting and feature extraction capabilities of neural network models provide effective solutions to overcome these bottlenecks. This paper systematically reviews the research progress of LIBS technology combined with neural network model in biomedical field, focusing on the key research achievements of this combined strategy in tumor diagnosis and classification, cancer staging and treatment monitoring, bacterial and pathogen identification, as well as traditional Chinese medicine analysis and traceability. Studies have shown that by combining artificial neural network, convolutional neural network, spiking neural network and other models, it can extract deep features from complex LIBS spectra, significantly improve the accuracy and robustness of classification and quantitative analysis. It is concluded that the integration of LIBS and neural network forms a synergistic effect of “rapid detection+intelligent analysis”, which shows great clinical application potential and lays a solid technical foundation for the development of intelligent, high-precision point-of-care diagnosis system in the future.

Pulmonary embolism (PE) is an acute cardiopulmonary disease characterized by high morbidity and mortality, making early detection and prompt treatment crucial. Although computed tomography pulmonary angiography (CTPA) serves as the “gold standard” for diagnosing PE due to its speed, non-invasiveness, and high sensitivity, it still presents several challenges in clinical practice. These include inconsistent image quality, the risk of missing small emboli, cumbersome diagnostic workflows, and insufficient precision in quantitative analysis. This article delves into the clinical value of artificial intelligence (AI) throughout the entire CTPA workflow. It systematically reviews research progress on AI applications, ranging from pre-scan optimization, image processing, automatic segmentation of pulmonary artery tree, to intelligent detection and quantitative analysis of pulmonary embolism, and prognosis risk assessment. It also discusses the current difficulties and challenges of implementing AI in clinical CTPA practice and explores future directions toward multimodal, intelligent, and portable solutions. This review aims to provide a reference for the research and clinical application of AI in the diagnosis of PE using CTPA, and to facilitate the innovation of CTPA and the improvement of medical service quality.
