The research analyzes 354 papers published from 2008 to 2017 in the international authoritative journal Science Communication. The temporal and spatial distribution, author and coauthor, affiliation, citation and keyword are analyzed in detail. The application of diagnostic tool VOSviewer reveals the research hotspots and evolution trend in the field of science communication. Specifically, in the past ten years, international science communication research evolved from the framework of news reports, traditional media, scientific literacy, biotechnology and other traditional issues, to new topics such as science communication from the perspective of new media, visual communication, the forefront science and the public, risk in new technology, etc., which has become new hotspots in the international science communication studies in recent years.

Weibo is an important channel for science popularization. This paper selects 14 mainstream science popularization bloggers as research samples and uses Python to collect information, takes into account micro-blog communication index, and interactive data, and finally analyzes the development, trends, and characteristics of science popularization bloggers. The research finds that: science popularization micro-blogs are on the rising development, there are big differences among different bloggers, and there are endlessly rising stars of bloggers. The spread of science popularization micro-blog relies on the social network between bloggers and fans, bloggers and bloggers. The types of micro-blogs, manifestations, content, styles, interaction might be important factors affecting the effectiveness of science popularization. At the end of 2017, the “aristolochic acid incident” once again triggered an extensive controversy on Chinese medicine's “poison”. Recently, with the popularity of “A bite of China 3”, the security problem of traditional Chinese medicine grabs the attention from the public again. In fact, there are many misunderstandings about the issue of “poison” in the information disseminated in all kinds of network media and WeChat. From the point of view of science communication, the understanding and correction of “poison” should also embrace a standpoint that transcends the monism of the western science.

During June 2003 and July 2003, the UK launched its first nationwide debate project on Genetically Modified crops and its commercialization, called “GM Nations?”. This project has received more than 50 000 people's direct involvement in the UK and has made a profound impact on public engagement with science and public risk management. However, there are rare academic papers for the comprehensive introduction and analysis of this project in the Chinese context. This paper starts with the background of GM Nations, and further analyzes the specific characteristics of this project, and the benign outputs and deficiencies of this project appearing in the implementation process, in order to provide experience and lessons for the coming similar public debate projects in China in the field of Genetically Modified Food or other controversial scientific issues.

For enhancing the effectiveness of science popularization in urban community, and improving scientific literacy of residents, it is necessary to research on residents' needs and satisfaction for science popularization in urban community and find corresponding methods and approaches to solve problems. This paper uses questionnaire survey, group interview, field investigation and other methods to investigate the community residents and workers on science popularization in a local district of Beijing. The results illustrate that community residents' needs and interest in science content are diverse; every topic about science is preferred by residents. The most popular channels for residents to access science and technology information are TV and cell phone. The community usually adopts two ways of science popularization; the one is using science resources to spread knowledge of science and technology, the other is holding some activities. The residents feel quite satisfactory towards specific projects and the works of science popularization in community. For further improving community science popularization, we should not only enrich the content of science popularization and create the form of science popularization, but also complete the mechanism of science popularization in the community, integrate the resources of science popularization in community, and achieve the accurate connection between demand and service through information technology.

The tacit knowledge theory of Micheal Polanyi is rich in connotation and extension. It is of great significance to understand the knowledge and technology that illustrates tacit root of articulating knowledge and the practical character of tacit knowledge. China's current agricultural technology popularization is facing dilemma, which are perceived evidently among the farmers and the science popularizers. From the perspective of epistemology, the lack of clear understanding of the essence of agricultural technology popularization is a major cause of the dilemma. In order to get out of the current “dilemma”, the following ideas can be used for reference: 1) Rethinking the three main subjects of agricultural technology popularization and their relation; 2) Fully recognizing the tacit attributes and priority of agricultural technology popularization; 3) The application of tacit knowledge in the development, promotion and acquisition of agricultural technology.

The paper pays more attention to the popularization of science interactive hall. The paper chooses some 70 community popularization of science Interactive halls in one city as the evaluation object in 2017. The following methods are adopted: questionnaire, interview and case study, designing the evaluation indicators from the aspect of the goal, organizational management, output and social benefit, and evaluating 70 popularization of science Interactive halls. The conclusion is: The overall situation of the popularization of science interactive halls are good, there are not obvious difference between cities and suburbs. However, some of the popular science interaction halls encounter the following problems, for example, improper selection site, Poor environment, Management system is not perfect, to name but a few. The beginning part of science essays by Gao Shiqi is ingeniously conjured by means of doubting, reasoning, interpretation, narrating, and poetry. Meanwhile, the artistic expressiveness of the essays is thus reinforced by adopting such rhetoric means as personification, metaphor, and analogy, which dovetails with the “Fengtou” writing style——the ingenious arrangement of the beginning part of the essays, adopted by the ancient Chinese writers. The paper tries to expound on the writing techniques and artistic effect of the beginning part of science essays by Gao Shiqi.

The Latest Middle School Textbook, Physics translated by Xie Honglai and published by the Commercial Press was the first modern physics textbook in China. With richness in content and a complete set of elements in textbooks, the book places emphasis on the teachings by teachers and learnings by students, on the dissemination of scientific knowledge and the enlightenment of scientific methods, on the construction of physical terminologies, and on reading habits of the Chinese people. Albeit the book contains an excessive number of learning knowledge and the exercises are highly difficult, its focus on teaching methods, and on popularizing scientific methods still embody great significance for China's current textbooks.

As one of the earliest carriers of popularizing physical science, popular physical science books could reflect the key points and features of the development of popular physical science in China. Through the quantitative investigation and research on 1 753 kinds of popular physical science books after the founding of the People's Republic of China, the paper obtains the following conclusions: the publication scale of China's popular physical science books has witnessed a sound development momentum from 1949 to 2011, the introduction of the books in that field has been vigorously excavated, the writers of those books mainly consist of the teaching staff and educators, most of the targeted group are young students, and the content of the books is mainly about physics knowledge books. In a nutshell, the following suggestions are put forward: It is recommended to cultivate professional popular physical science writers and encourage scientists to be interested in and join this writing. Meanwhile, popular physical science books should be oriented towards a wider scope of readers. Last but not the least, it is necessary to change the concept of popularizing science and be more open-minded about selecting topics.
