Objective

This study aimed to explore the efficacy of Centella Asiatica Cream in treating hypertrophic scars.

Methods

A total of 107 patients with keloid lesions were included.Following a double-blind allocation principle，the patients were divided into an experimental group（49 cases）and a control group（58 cases）.The Vancouver Scar Scale（VSS）and the Patient and Observer Scar Assessment Scale（POSAS）were employed to evaluate changes in color，hardness，height，vascularization，texture and pain before and after treatment in both groups.

Results

At the 12th and 24th week of treatment with Centella Asiatica Cream，the experimental group demonstrated statistically significant differences in keloid scar diameter，pigmentation，thickness，vascular distribution and softness according to the VSS compared with those of the control group（P<0.05）.The POSAS observer scale indicated significant statistical differences between the two groups at the 12th and 24th week（P<0.05），while the POSAS patient scale showed significant differences at the 4th，12th and 24th week（all P<0.05）.

Conclusion

Centella Asiatica Cream formulation showed significant efficacy in the repair of hypertrophic scars.
