The term“Xiwang”first appeared in The Inner Canon of Yellow Emperor and is a symptom of memory impairment. The formation mechanism of this symptom has been discussed in The Inner Canon of Yellow Emperor too. With the continuous understanding of later generations of doctors，the disease name“forgetfulness”gradually appeared，and initially recognized the relationship between emotions and memory. Inmodernmedicine，brain diseases are often accompanied by“forgetfulness”. Emotion is the source and product of human mental activities，which can affect thememory function of human brain and even lead to dementia. At the same time，as the intermediary between the five Zang-organs and mental activities，emotions affect each other，so it can be used as a therapeutic means and method to promote the recovery of memory function from the perspective of regulating Zang-Fu organs. Therefore，from the understanding of memory in traditional Chinese medicine，the relationship between emotions and memory，discussing the relationship and treatment between emotions and“forgetfulness”by focusing on single emotion and interwoven emotion.
