To observe the clinical efficacy of Ding´s Benefiting Qi and Nourishing Yin Decoction(益气养阴汤)in the treatment of prolonged menstruation due to deficiency of both Qi and Yin.
This study selected 108 patients with deficiency of both Qi and Yin type of menstrual extension who were treated in the gynecology department of The First Affiliated Hospital of Guizhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine from September 2021 to September 2022 as the subjects. They were randomly divided into two groups using a random number table. Both groups received basic treatment. The control group received the treatment with Callicarpa nudiflora Dispersible Tablets, and the observation group received treatment with Ding´s Benefiting Qi and Nourishing Yin Decoction. Both groups were treated continuously for three courses of treatment. The differences in therapeutic efficacy, menstrual time, recurrence rate and sex hormones, traditional Chinese medicine symptom score, duration of basal body temperature(BBT)and high temperature phase, fibrinogen(FIB)and platelet count(PLT)were compared between two groups.
The total effective rate of the observation group was higher than that of the control group, and the overall menstrual time and average menstrual time were shorter than those of the control group, with statistical differences(P<0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in the TCM symptom scores between the two groups before treatment(P>0.05).After treatment, the scores of fatigue, dry throat and mouth, lack of breath and lazy speech, restlessness and heat, self sweating, constipation, dizziness, blurred vision and short red urine in both groups decreased compared to those before treatment(P<0.05).The TCM symptom score of the observation group after treatment was lower than that of the control group(P<0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in sex hormones between the two groups before treatment(P>0.05).After treatment, the levels of estradiol(E2),luteinizing hormone(LH)and progesterone(P)decreased in both groups compared to those before treatment. However, there was no statistically significant difference in follicle stimulating hormone(FSH)levels compared to those before treatment(P>0.05).After treatment, the levels of E2,P and LH in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, and there was no statistically significant difference in FSH compared to that of the control group(P>0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in the duration of BBT hyperthermia phase,FIB or PLT between the two groups before treatment(P>0.05).After treatment, the duration of high temperature phase of BBT decreased in both groups compared to that before treatment, while PLT increased compared to that before treatment. There was no statistically significant difference in FIB compared to that before treatment(P>0.05).After treatment, the duration of BBT hyperthermia phase in the observation group was lower than that in the control group, while PLTwas higher than that in the control group. There was no statistically significant difference in FIB compared to that of the control group(P>0.05).The recurrence rate of the observation group was 14.89%(7/54),which was lower than that of the control group(37.04%,20/54),with a statistical difference(P<0.05).
In the treatment of prolonged menstruation due to deficiency of both Qi and Yin,Ding´s Benefiting Qi and Nourishing Yin Decoction can reduce symptoms, regulate sex hormone levels, improve the therapeutic efficacy, and reduce the recurrence rate.
