To discuss the clinical effect and safety observation of Suhuang Zhike Capsule（苏黄止咳胶囊）in treating post-thyroidectomy cough.
Two hundred and three patients with post-thyroidectomy cough admitted from January 2021 to September 2023 were included，and assigned into two groups using random number table methods. The control group（101 cases）was given ambroxol aerosol inhalation，while the observation group（102 cases）was given ambroxol aerosol inhalation and Suhuang Zhike Capsule. The treatment in both groups lasted for 7 days. During treatment，2 cases in the observation group and 0 case in the control group were dropped out. Then the clinical efficacy，postoperative cough relief time，postoperative cough disappearance time，daytime cough symptom，nighttime cough symptom，Leicester Cough Questionnaire in Mandarin Chinese（LCQMC），self-rating anxiety scale（SAS），self-rating depression scale（SDS），immunoglobulin-related indexes，Karnofsky performance status scale（KPS）and adverse reactions were compared between two groups.
The observation group reported a higher clinical efficacy rate than the control group［97.00%（97/100）vs 90.10%（91/101），P<0.05］.the observation group showed decreased time to the relief and disappearance of postoperative cough，and had lower daytime and nighttime cough symptom scores compared to the control group（P<0.05）. After treatment，an increase in LCQ-MC score，immunoglobulin-related indexes and KPSscore，as well as a reduction in SASand SDSwere observed in all patients，and both changes were more notable in the observation group than those in the control group（P<0.05）. Both groups yielded a low adverse reaction rate，with no statistical difference（P>0.05）.
Application of Suhuang Zhike Capsule in treating post-thyroidectomy cough can effectively improve immune function and quality of life，which has little adverse reaction and good safety.
