To observe the clinical efficacy of Tiaoqi Yangxue Decoction（调气养血方）in the treatment of dawn phenomenon in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
Sixty-four patients with type 2 diabetes admitted to the hospital from January 2022 to June2023 were randomly assigned into two groups using random methods.The control group（32 cases）was treated with Western medicine.The observation group（32 cases）added Tiaoqi Yangxue Decoction.Then the clinical efficacy，TCM syndrome scores，blood glucose indexes and the occurrence of adverse reactions were compared between two groups.
No statistical difference was reported in blood glucose indexes and TCM syndrome scores between two groups before treatment（P>0.05）.After treatment，the total clinical efficacy rate was 96.88% in the observation group，which was higher than 82.15% in the control group（P<0.05）.After treatment，the scores of TCM syndromes in both groups were lower than those before treatment，and score of the observation group was lower than that of the control group（P<0.05）.After treatment，a reduction in the fasting blood glucose（FPG），absolute increment from nocturnal nadir to prebreakfast value，2 h postprandial blood glucose（2 h PG），mean blood glucose（MBG）and mean amplitude of glycemic excursions（MAGE），and an reduce in increase of 2 h PG and FPG were observed in both groups，and the above improvements were both more remarkable in the observation group than those in the control group（P<0.05）.The incidence of adverse reactions in the observation group was 6.25%，while that in the control group was 15.63%（P>0.05）.
Application of Modified Tiaoqi Yangxue Decoction in the treatment of dawn phenomenon in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus can reduce blood glucose levels and alleviate clinical symptoms，and has a good safety profile.
