As a traditional Chinese medicine commonly used folk medicine in clinic，Banbianlian（Lobelia chinensis）has the effects of clearing heat and detoxifying，promoting urination and eliminating edema. It can relieve snake venom and treat a variety of cancers. It mainly contains alkaloids，flavonoids，flavonoid glycosides，terpenoids，polyacetylenes，lignans，polysaccharides，amino acids and other components. It is widely used and has reliable curative effect. This paper summarized the current quality control of Banbianlian（Lobelia chinensis）and analyzed from the aspects of plant genetic relationship，compatibility environment，chemical composition and drug efficacy. It is preliminarily determined that the components such as lobeline，new lobeline A and new lobeline Bmay be the quality markers of Banbianlian（Lobelia chinensis），which provides a basis for the quality control and evaluation of Banbianlian（Lobelia chinensis）.
