Syndrome diagnosis standard is an integral part of TCM standardization research，integrating the knowledge and regulatory systems of TCM. The diagnostic criteria for the combination of disease and syndrome align with the developmental trends of modern medicine，reflecting the macroscopic and microscopic syndrome characteristics of the core pathogenesis of diseases at the level of informatics，and enhancing identification through the use of multivariate statistical methods at the methodological level. Based on the current state of these criteria，this paper explains that the system offers several benefits，such as aligning with the actual diagnosis and treatment practices of both traditional Chinese and Western medicine. It also emphasizes the attribute of ‘outer emptiness’ in syndromes and promotes research into micro-syndrome differentiation. Given the importance of these issues，this paper suggests several directions for future research on diagnostic criteria. These include embracing the dynamic concept of syndrome differentiation，exploring symptom grading strategies，engaging in multidisciplinary collaborative research，and focusing on the integration of program resources. The goal is to provide insights for the objective study of disease-syndrome combinations.
