Objective

To investigate the clinical efficacy of Buzhong Yiqi Decoction（补中益气汤，BZYQT）combined with thrombopoietin receptor agonists（TPO-RA）in treating thrombocytopenia caused by tumor therapy.

Methods

A total of 160 patients with thrombocytopenia due to tumor therapy were randomly divided into a control group and an experimental group，each consisting of 80 cases. The control group was only given TPO-RA treatment，while the experimental group received BZYQT in combination with TPO-RA. After 8 weeks，the two groups were compared in terms of platelet count，bleeding risk level，Karnofsky performance status（KPS）score，changes in serum thrombopoietin（TPO）content and adverse reactions.

Results

After treatment，both groups showed significant recovery in platelet parameters，bleeding risk，KPS score and serum TPO content. Compared with that of the control group，the overall effectiveness rate of the treatment group reached 95.00%（76/80）. Additionally，the values of platelet count（PLT）and plateletcrit（PCT）of the experimental group were higher than those of the control group（P<0.001），while the values of platelet distribution width（PDW）and mean platelet volume（MPV）were lower（P<0.001）. The improvement in bleeding risk and KPS score was more pronounced in the experimental group than that in the control group（P<0.001）. The serum TPO content in the experimental group was significantly higher than that in the control group（P<0.001），and the number of adverse reaction events decreased.

Conclusion

The combination of BZYQT and TPO-RA in treating thrombocytopenia caused by tumor therapy yields more significant effects and can reduce the adverse reactions caused by TPO-RA to a certain extent.
