Baitouweng（Pulsatillae Radix）is the dried root of Baitouweng［Pulsatilla chinensis（Bge.）Regel］, which has high medicinal value. The Genus Pulsatilla in China mainly contains pentacyclic triterpenoids, which mainly include oleanane-type, lupane-type and ursane-type, and the chemical components of different species are very different. They have anti-tumor, anti-inflammatory, visceral protection, anti-bacterial and anti-viral, reducing drug resistance, decreasing blood glucose and other pharmacological activities. The components and pharmacological activities of pentacyclic triterpenoids of the Genus Pulsatilla in China were reviewed to provide theoretical reference and scientific basis for their further development and application.
