Autism is a neurodevelopmental disorder that seriously affects children's physical and mental health as well as their growth and development. Children with autism have obstacles in behavior, interests, communication, social interaction and other aspects, which reducetheir quality of life. A large number of studies have confirmed that the combination of traditional Chinese medicine and rehabilitation training in the treatment of autism has the advantages of significant therapeutic effect and high safety. Modified Wendan Decoction (加味温胆汤) originated from Wendan Decoction (温胆汤) in Three Causes and One Disease Syndrome Formula Discussionof the Southern Song Dynasty. It has the effects of clearing heat, resolving phlegm, regulating Qi and harmonizing the middle. This research group analyzed the etiology and pathogenesis of autism, the origin, the functions and its clinical applications of Modified Wendan Decoction, the origins of sensory integration training, the clinical applications of sensory integration training, the combined effects of Modified Wendan Decoction and sensory integration training in treating autism, the mechanism of Modified Wendan Decoction in treating autism, the mechanism of sensory integration training in treating autism, and the combined mechanism of the two approaches in treating autism. This study aimed to provide insights and references for modern clinical treatment of autism.
