To investigate the clinical effect of Modified Sijunzi Decoction (四君子汤加减) combined with FOLFOX4 in the treatment of primary gastric cancer.
A total of 98 patients with primary gastric cancer admitted from January 2021 to April 2024 were included in the study and divided into FOLFOX4 regimen group and combined Chinese medicine group by random number table method. All patients in FOLFOX4 regimen group (49 cases) were treated with FOLFOX4 chemotherapy regimen. The patients in the combined Chinese medicine group (49 cases) were treated with Sijunzi Decoction combined with FOLFOX4 regimen. The data of each group was compared, including the clinical efficacy, stomach intake or poor appetite, abnormal stool, lack of thirst, continuous abdominal pain or warm preference, intestinal distress and other traditional Chinese medicine syndrome score changes, the levels of gastrin (GAS), pepsinogen Ⅰ (PGⅠ) and pepsinogen Ⅱ (PGⅡ), the levels of gastrointestinal hormone, carbohydrate antigen 125 (CA125) and carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), changes in T cell subsets such as CD3+, CD4+, CD8+ and adverse reactions to chemotherapy.
The total effective rate of the combined Chinese medicine group was higher than that of FOLFOX4 regimen group (P<0.05). Before treatment, the two groups of patients with decreased stomach intake or poor appetite, abnormal stool, lack of thirst, continuous abdominal pain or traditional Chinese medicine syndrome scores, gastrointestinal hormone levels (GAS, PGⅠ, PGⅡ), tumor marker levels (CA125, CEA), CD3+, CD4+, CD8+ and other indicators were not significant (all P>0.05). After treatment, the combined Chinese medicine group were better than those in the FOLFOX4 group in terms of reduced stomach intake, poor appetite, abnormal stool, lack of thirst, continuous abdominal pain, warm preference, colon distress, gastrointestinal hormone level (GAS, PGⅠ, PGⅡ), tumor marker levels (CA125, CEA), CD3+, CD4+, CD8+ and other indicators (P<0.05). The incidence of gastrointestinal discomfort in the combined Chinese medicine group was lower than that in the FOLFOX4 regimen group (P<0.05).
Sijunzi Decoction combined with FOL-FOX4 has good clinical effect in the treatment of primary gastric cancer, which can effectively reduce the levels of tumor markers, improve the disease and gastrointestinal hormone levels, improve the immune function of patients and reduce some adverse reactions, and the treatment is safe and reliable.
