Polycystic ovary syndrome(PCOS)is a common endocrine and metabolic disorder characterized by chronic anovulation, hyperandrogenism and polycystic changes in ovaries. Traditional Chinese medicine theory holds that the occurrence of PCOS is closely related to dysfunction of heart and spleen, especially the obstruction of phlegm and dampness caused by spleen deficiency and excessive dampness, as well as the dysfunction of Qi and blood circulation. The method of “cultivating soil to restrict water”emphasizes regulating the metabolism of water in the body by strengthening spleen, nourishing Qi, promoting dampness and resolving phlegm, thereby achieving the therapeutic goals. This therapy believes that by nourishing spleen and stomach to enhance their transport function, it can effectively control the water and dampness stagnation caused by spleen deficiency, thereby helping to improve the symptoms of PCOS. This article provided a detailed analysis of the application of the theory of heart and spleen in traditional Chinese medicine, and combined modern medical research to elucidate the clinical symptoms and TCM syndrome differentiation characteristics of PCOS. By sorting out the mechanisms of spleen deficiency, excessive dampness, Qi stagnation and blood stasis in PCOS, this article further analyzed the theoretical basis of the “cultivating soil to restrict water”method in improving the symptoms of PCOS patients. Under the guidance of traditional Chinese medicine theory, the “cultivating soil to restrict water”method provides a new perspective and approach for the treatment of PCOS. By enhancing the function of spleen and regulating water metabolism, it can effectively improve the symptoms of PCOS patients.
