There is a phenomenon of Shandougen（Sophorae Tonkinensis Radix et Rhizoma）with the same name in different regions of China，and there are also differences in its active ingredients and medicinal pathways. There have been varying degrees of research on various types of Shandougen（Sophorae Tonkinensis Radix et Rhizoma）both domestically and internationally. At present，Shandougen（Sophorae Tonkinensis Radix et Rhizoma）is mainly Yuenanhuai（Sophora tonkinensis Gagnep）which is Sophora genusin in the Fabaceae family，while there are few reports on Euchresta plants，and several have not been reported yet. Modern pharmacological research reports indicate that they all have important medicinal value. Euchresta plants have a wide variety of chemical compositions including flavonoids，alkaloids，triterpenoids，organic acids，etc.，which are also have anti-tumour，anti-bacterial，anti-viral，anti-inflammatory，cardiovascular and cerebrovascular protection effects. This article mainly reviewed the progress of domestic and international research on the name authentication，chemical composition and biological activity of Shandougen（Sophorae Tonkinensis Radix et Rhizoma），and provided a basis for research on the comprehensive resource development and medicinal use of Shandougen（Sophorae Tonkinensis Radix et Rhizoma）with the same name in different regions.
