Hepatic fibrosis（HF）is a pathological state caused by the excessive deposition and degradation of extracellular matrix（ECM）due to the activation of hepatic stellate cells（HSC）stimulated by various chronic hepatitis. Cirrhosis is the final outcome of HF.“Yang transforming Qi while Yin constituting form”is a classic overview of the results of Yin and Yang movement in traditional Chinese medicine（TCM），which is closely related to the occurrence and development of HF. The imbalance of Yin-Yang movement and the loss of balance between Yin and Yang lead to insufficient Yang transformation and excessive Yin formation，which runs through the entire process of HF，mainly forming the core pathogenesis of HF including deficiency of healthy Qi and liver，being unable to resist evils and mutual accumulation of phlegm-dampness and blood stasis，constantly promoting the pathological progress of HF. Naringenin is a common flavonoid component that plays a variety of effect mechanisms in the treatment of HF，including anti-inflammatory effects，anti-oxidative stress，regulation of autophagy，inhibition of hepatic stellate cell activity and reduction of collagen deposition and lipid deposition. Based on the theory of“Yang transforming Qi while Yin constituting form”，this paper discussed the core pathogenesis of HF，and used the relevant knowledge of domestic and foreign literature to sort out the regulatory role of naringenin in the field of HF，in order to provide theoretical basis and reference for the treatment of HF with naringenin.
