Objective

To identify key genes, functional enrichment and signaling pathways associated with Parkinson's disease(PD)using bioinformatics methods.

Methods

The PD microarray dataset GSE7621 was downloaded from the Gene Expression Omnibus(GEO)database. Weighted Gene Co-expression Network Analysis(WGCNA)was employed to screen key gene modules, and the differentially expressed genes(DEGs)were identified using R software. Gene Ontology(GO)and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes(KEGG)pathway analyses were conducted on the selected DEGs,and the key genes within the DEGs were identified using the STRING database and Cytoscape software.

Results

A total of 133 key genes were identified through WGCNA and DEGscreening. GOand KEGGanalyses indicated that the primary biological processes involved ubiquitination and histone modification. The key genes included CUL7,KAT2A,DDB1,ANAPC7,ATXN7L2,TADA2B,SGF29,PSMB1,RSAD1 and MRPL30.

Conclusion

This study identified several key genes associated with PD through bioinformatics analysis, revealing biological processes and signaling pathways related to ubiquitination, histone modification and the Notch signaling pathway. These findings provide new insights into the molecular mechanisms of Parkinson's disease.
