Pulmonary diseases seriously affect the quality of life of patients，but the treatment methods are limited.Astragaloside Ⅳ（AS-Ⅳ）has been applied in traditional Chinese medicine for thousands of years and is becoming increasingly popular due to its potential anti-inflammatory，anti-aging and anti-cancer properties.A large amount of evidence suggests that the protective effect of AS-Ⅳcan prevent and treat lung diseases.This article introduced the current progress of role and mechanism of AS-Ⅳ in the prevention and treatment of lung diseases.The ability of the drug to inhibit oxidative stress，promote cell proliferation and epithelial mesenchymal transition，alleviate inflammatory response and regulate programmed cell death was discussed.It also summarized the challenges and new strategies faced by current lung diseases.
