Shashen Maidong Decoction（沙参麦冬汤）is a classic formula created by WU Jutong，a famous medical expert in the Qing Dynasty.Modern research has shown that Shashen Maidong Decoction has good anti-inflammatory，antioxidant，antitumour and immune-regulating effects，and is able to treat a wide range of lung diseases such as chronic bronchitis，pneumonia，chronic obstructive pulmonary disease，pulmonary fibrosis and lung cancer.In this paper，it reviewed the chemical composition，pharmacological effects and research progress of Shashen Maidong Decoction in the treatment of pulmonary diseases.Meanwhile，based on the five principles of quality marker（Q-marker），it revealed that 17 components such as Bergapten，Ruscogenin，Cucurbitacin B，Rutin，Trigonelline and Liquiritin could be used as the quality markers of Shashen Maidong Decoction，but the subsequent experiments were needed to further verify the authenticity，so as to provide more basis for the quality evaluation of Shashen Maidong Decoction.
