Blood turbidity refers to a pathological phenomenon where blood either loses its purity or its circulation due to various internal and external factors,or it can refer to a pathological product resulting from a disease.Parkinson´s disease(PD)is a chronic, progressive neurodegenerative disease, and its prevalence is increasing annually alongside the aging of the population. Many medical practitioners consider that patients with PD are primarily characterized by deficiency of liver and kidney syndrome as the root cause, along with symptoms such as wind, phlegm, fire, stasis and toxicity. As PD progresses, there is a disruption in the balance between the turbid and the clear elements;blood turbidity is generated and accumulates, obstructing the meridians and collaterals, and causing internal organ dysfunction, which ultimately leads to the emergence or exacerbation of PD symptoms. Therefore, the article posits that blood turbidity stagnation is a fundamental pathogenic change in PD.Numerous studies have established that ferroptosis,an iron-dependent form of regulated cell death characterized by lipid peroxidation,is closely associated with the development of PD.The abnormal accumulation of iron and lipids is a pathological hallmark of ferroptosis and represents one of the microscopic manifestations of blood turbidity. The continuous accumulation of iron and lipids leads to the gradual damage and demise of dopaminergic neurons, thereby contributing to the progression of PD.The blood turbidity theory offers a novel perspective for elucidating the mechanisms of PD and guiding its clinical prevention and treatment.Guided by the theory of blood turbidity, this paper proposes a treatment approach that involves activating blood circulation and resolving blood stasis, detoxifying and resolving the turbidity,as well as harmonizing meridians to restore the clear. It also integrates the clinical research to achieve a synergistic intervention in PD,targeting ferroptosis as an entry point, and employing Western pharmaceuticals to reduce side effects or dosages, thereby increasing the treatment effectiveness.
