To explore the effect of joint fumigation and washing instrument combined with Duhuo Jisheng Decoction（独活寄生汤）on knee joint function，pain and serum inflammatory factors in patients with knee osteoarthritis（KOA）.

Sixty patients were randomly divided into a control group and an observation group，30 cases in each group.The control group received intra-articular injection of sodium hyaluronate for treatment，while the observation group received joint fumigation and washing instrument combined with Duhuo Jisheng Decoction for treatment on the basis of the medication in the control group.The treatment period was 4 weeks.Traditional Chinese medicine syndrome scores，knee joint function，pain and serum inflammatory factor levels were compared between the two groups before treatment and 4 weeks after treatment.

There was no significant difference in traditional Chinese medicine syndrome scores between the two groups before treatment（P>0.05）.The scores decreased after treatment（P<0.05）and the degree of decrease in the observation group was greater than that in the control group（P<0.05）.There was no significant difference in Lysholm score，The Western Ontario and McMaster Universities（WOMAC）score or Hospital for Special Surgery（HSS）score between the two groups before treatment（P>0.05）.The Lysholm score and HSSscore increased after treatment compared to those before treatment（P<0.05），and the increase in the observation group was greater than that in the control group（P<0.05）.The WOMACscores decreased after treatment compared to those before treatment（P<0.05）and the decrease in the observation group was greater than that in the control group（P<0.05）.There was no significant difference in VAS score，levels of serum substance P（SP），5-hydrox-ytryptamine（5-HT），prostaglandin E2（PGE2），tumor necrosis factor-α（TNF-α），interleukin-6（IL-6），interleukin-10（IL-10），insulin-like growth factor 1（IGF-1）or transforming growth factor-β（TGF-β）between the two groups before treatment（P>0.05）.The VASscore decreased after treatment（P<0.05）and the degree of decrease in the observation group was greater than that in the control group（P<0.05）.The therapeutic effect of the observation group was significantly better than that of the control group（P<0.05）.

The joint fumigation and washing instrument combined with Duhuo Jisheng Decoction has significant effect on the treatment of KOA.It can effectively alleviate discomfort symptoms such as pain，inhibit pain and the levels of inflammatory factors，and improve knee joint function and treatment efficacy.
