Gouqi（Lycii Fructus）is a Chinese drug which is homology of medicine and food with the effect of nourishing liver and kidney，nourishing the essence and brightening the eyes. Pigment is one of the main active components of Gouqi（Lycii Fructus），which has pharmacological activities such as antioxidant，anti-tumor，vision protection and liver protection effects. Different extraction and purification methods have varying degrees of impact on the contents and purities of pigments. This paper summarized the extraction methods，separation and purification，chemical composition and main pharmacological activities of pigments from Gouqi（Lycii Fructus）and prospected their research prospects，providing theoretical support for the further development and utilization of pigments from Gouqi（Lycii Fructus）.
