Recently, four departments including the Shaanxi Association for Science and Technology released the selection results of the Sanqin Excellence Sci-Tech Journal Development Plan (Phase II). Thermal Power Generation, sponsored by Xi’an Thermal Power Research Institute and the Chinese Society for Electrical Engineering, was successfully selected as a Chinese Leading Journal.

The “Sanqin Excellence Sci-Tech Journal Development Plan” is jointly implemented by the Shaanxi Association for Science and Technology, the Publicity Department of the CPC Shaanxi Provincial Committee, the Shaanxi Provincial Department of Education, and the Shaanxi Provincial Department of Science and Technology. The plan aims to refine and strengthen a group of traditional advantageous sci-tech journals and cultivate a number of nationwide first-class sci-tech journals. Building on its selection as a “Key Journal” in the first phase (2021), Thermal Power Generation made another breakthrough in the second phase and successfully advanced to a “Chinese Leading Journal.”

Founded in 1972, Thermal Power Generation is an important journal in China’s energy, power, and power generation technology field. With the goal of promoting the progress of China’s thermal power generation technology and the development of the thermal energy and power discipline, it reports China’s research achievements in this field as well as international research trends in thermal energy and power disciplines.

After years of development, Thermal Power Generation has become a core journal of the Chinese Science Citation Database (CSCD), a national Chinese core journal, and a China Sci-Tech Core Journal. It is indexed by international retrieval systems such as Chemical Abstracts (CA) of the United States and the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) database. It has been rated as an “Excellent Journal” of Shaanxi Province for multiple consecutive terms, awarded titles such as “Top 100 Outstanding Academic Journals of China” and “China Excellent Sci-Tech Journal,” and selected as a T1-level journal in the High-Quality Sci-Tech Journal Grading Catalog in the Energy and Power Field of the China Association for Science and Technology.

This upgrade is not only a full affirmation of Thermal Power Generation’s continued deep cultivation of academic content and continuous improvement of its publishing level, but also highlights the journal’s industry influence. In the future, Thermal Power Generation will take this opportunity to remain true to its original aspiration, strictly control academic quality, continue to follow frontier developments in the energy and power technology field, and make greater contributions to serving the national energy strategy.
