Latest ArticlesTo establish a multi-delay pseudocontinuous arterial spin labeling (MD pCASL) protocol on a 5 T ultra-high-field MRI system and to compare the performance of three-dimensional echo-planar imaging (3D-EPI) and three-dimensional gradient and spin echo (3D-GRASE) readout sequences in cerebral perfusion imaging. The study also aims to assess the potential of 3D-EPI for high-resolution MD pCASL at ultra-high field strength.
Ten healthy volunteers underwent MD pCASL examinations on a 5 T MRI system with post-labeling delays ranging from 500 to 3,000 ms. Both 3D-EPI and 3D-GRASE sequences were acquired using the same spatial resolution. Cerebral blood flow (CBF) and arterial transit time (ATT) were calculated using the BASIL toolbox in the FMRIB Software Library. Image quality was evaluated using the blur quality metric (BQM) and subjective scoring.
Both sequences produced perfusion images of acceptable quality. Quantitative and qualitative assessments showed that 3D-EPI had significantly lower through-plane blurring than 3D-GRASE (BQM: 0.23±0.02 vs. 0.35±0.02). The subjective scores were also higher for 3D-EPI [3D-GRASE: 4.00 (4.00, 4.00); 3D-EPI: 10.00 (8.00, 11.00)], indicating better anatomical clarity. In addition, 3D-EPI achieved a shorter scan time (4 min 13 s vs. 5 min 18 s). CBF and ATT values derived from the two sequences showed strong correlations across the whole brain and within gray and white matter.
In 5 T MD pCASL imaging, 3D-EPI provides improved structural sharpness and reduced scan time compared with 3D-GRASE, while maintaining good agreement in CBF and ATT quantification. These results suggest that 3D-EPI is a promising readout option for high-resolution ASL at ultra-high field and may enhance the detection of small lesions and the evaluation of complex hemodynamic features.

To explore the effect of the PDCA cycle carried out by the disinfection supply center on improving the cleaning quality of precision instruments.
Thirteen cleaning personnel and 2,000 precision instruments from the hospital disinfection supply center from January 2023 to December 2024 were selected for the study. Among them, 1,000 precision instruments from January to December 2023 were treated with conventional cleaning methods (control group), another 1,000 precision instruments from January to December 2024 were subject to PDCA cycle management (observation group). The adverse factors of instrument cleaning, the rate of instrument wear and loss, the ability evaluation of cleaning personnel, and job satisfaction between the two groups were compared.
Compared with the control group, the incidence of lack of cleaning knowledge, incorrect execution of cleaning procedures, failure to pre-treat the instruments, and mismatch of cleaning tools was lower in the observation group (P<0.05). The rate of instrument wear and loss in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). The scores of the observation group for managing instruments, risk identification ability, risk prevention awareness, and environmental management ability were higher (P<0.05), and the work satisfaction score of the observation group was also higher (P<0.05).
PDCA cycle is implemented in the cleaning management of precision instruments in disinfection supply center to prevent the occurrence of adverse factors in instrument cleaning, reduce instrument wear and loss, and ensure job satisfaction.
To address critical pain points in medical equipment management within large public hospitals, such as ‘blind spots in asset supervision’, ‘passive maintenance response’ and ‘single-dimensional performance evaluation’, this study explores the construction of an internet of things (IoT)-based refined management system. The goal is to achieve intelligent monitoring and scientific decision-making throughout the full lifecycle of medical equipment.
A five-layer architecture (perception, data, services, application, presentation) was implemented. Sensing terminals were deployed to collect the real-time operational status of equipment, which were then deeply integrated with hospital information systems to form a data-driven closed-loop management system. On this basis, two parallel business lines were constructed: ‘Lifecycle Management’ and ‘Operational Monitoring & Performance Analysis’.
Since the official launch of the system in December 2024, significant results have been achieved. The comparative analysis conducted before the system launched (from January to December 2024) and after the system launched (from January to December 2025) reveals that the consistency rate between asset accounts and physical stock increased from 94.84% to 100.00% (P<0.001). The operational saturation of large equipment increased from 49.30% to 52.33% (P=0.043). Furthermore, maintenance timeliness surged from 75.20% to 96.96% (P<0.001).
The IoT-enabled refined management system successfully facilitates a paradigm shift in hospital equipment management from a ‘passive, experience-based’ model to an ‘active, data-driven’ model. This approach not only enhances asset operational efficiency and compliance but also provides a reproducible and scalable practical pathway for the construction of smart hospitals.
To obtain the target center positioning errors and the maximum tumor displacement positioning errors within the target volume for lung cancer patients during radiotherapy through cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) image registration, and to determine two corresponding expansion margin respectively. To explore the influence of these two expansion margins on radiotherapy planning and treatment delivery for lung cancer patients, thereby improving the accuracy of clinical target volume to planning target volume (CTV-PTV) margin delineation.
A retrospective analysis was conducted on CBCT images from 40 lung cancer patients who underwent itensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) in the Radiotherapy Department of Southern Hospital, Southern Medical University, between March and September 2024. Displacement data were collected using two registration methods: target center registration and maximum tumor displacement registration within the target volume. The expansion margins for both registration methods were calculated based on the classic formula for MPTV (margin of planning target volume) expansion.
A total of 227 CBCT scans from the 40 lung cancer patients were analyzed. Statistics showed that under the target center registration method, the positioning errors in the anterior-posterior (AP), head-foot (HF), and left-right (LR) directions were (-0.019±0.218) cm, (0.028±0.239) cm, and (0.022±0.217) cm, respectively. Under the maximum tumor displacement registration method, the positioning errors in the AP, HF, and LR directions were (-0.017±0.205) cm, (0.038±0.290) cm, and (0.025±0.241) cm, respectively. The intra-class correlation coefficient (ICC) method confirmed a high consistency between the two datasets. Using the classic formula, the calculated expansion margins for the target center registration method in the AP, HF, and LR directions were 0.373 cm, 0.477 cm, and 0.466 cm, respectively. For the maximum tumor displacement registration method, the corresponding margins were 0.429 cm, 0.602 cm, and 0.506 cm.
The target center registration and maximum tumor displacement registration within the target volume were performed using CBCT images of lung cancer patients, two sets of positioning errors and expansion margins were obtained. The ICC consistency test demonstrated good agreement between the two datasets. These results can serve as a theoretical basis for determining CTV-PTV margins in lung cancer radiotherapy and possess practical clinical application value.
To evaluate the performance of 450 ventilators in use in Zhejiang Province by systematically assessing the pass rates of core parameters across different brands and analyzing the correlation between service life and performance, thereby providing evidence for precise quality control and scientific maintenance.
In accordance with GB 9706.212—2020 and JJF 1234—2018, five key parameters (tidal volume, mandatory ventilation frequency, FiO2, inspiratory pressure level, and PEEP) were tested using a Fluke VT650 gas flow analyzer. Descriptive statistics and Spearman rank correlation analysis were employed for systematic comparison and correlation analysis from the dimensions of brand type and service life.
The overall pass rate of the 450 ventilators was 58.67% (264/450). Significant disparities were observed in the pass rates of core parameters among brands: Imported Brand 2 had the highest overall pass rate (70.48%), while Domestic Brand 2 had the lowest (0.00%). Tidal volume exhibited the most notable variation in pass rates among brands (0%~90.75%), identified as the primary weakness of domestic devices. Correlation analysis between service life and performance revealed that Imported Brand 2 maintained stable performance with no significant correlation to service life (ρ=-0.094, P=0.157). In contrast, Imported Brand 1 (ρ=-0.382, P=0.001) and Imported Brand 3 (ρ=-0.446, P<0.001) showed significant negative correlations, while Domestic Brand 1 also demonstrated a weak negative correlation (ρ=-0.215, P=0.035).
The current overall performance of ventilators requires improvement, with tidal volume accuracy being a common technical bottleneck for domestic devices. Furthermore, performance degradation patterns over time vary significantly by brand. It is recommended to establish a differentiated quality control system focusing on tidal volume, incorporating service life and brand-specific characteristics, to enhance the clinical safety and whole-life-cycle management of ventilators.

Applying internet of things (IoT) technology in the construction of hospital medical equipment management information system, and constructing and applying an magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) examination appointment scheduling management system in a real hospital environment, in order to achieve a scientific MRI examination appointment scheduling method, comprehensively improve the efficiency of hospital medical equipment examination, shorten patient waiting time, and optimize resource allocation.
The system optimizes and integrates the existing medical equipment resources by using IoT technology, and combines the hospital's demands. It adopts a four-layer hierarchical architecture from bottom to top: data collection layer - data integration layer - application service layer - application business layer, to build an MRI examination appointment and scheduling management system. This system realizes core functions such as equipment usage efficiency analysis, patient appointment analysis, and scheduling record analysis. By comparing four indicators - the average daily working hours per MRI device, the average daily on-time hours per MRI device, the average daily number of patients served per MRI device, and the average interval time between examinations - before and after the system's launch, the application effect of the system is analyzed.
After the application of the system, the average daily number of patients served and average daily working hours per MRI device significantly increased, and the average interval time between examinations significantly decreased, with all differences being statistically significant (P<0.05). However, the difference in the average daily on-time hours per device was not statistically significant (P>0.05), indicating that the system has a promoting effect on improving the utilization efficiency of MRI devices.
After the system was applied, the service volume of MRI equipment were significantly improved, the average interval time between examinations was effectively shortened, and the utilization rate of hospital MRI equipment was significantly improved, This management strategy and optimization method not only provide scientific data support for hospital managers, but also provide effective and feasible management tools to enhance the social and economic benefits of hospitals, with broad application prospects and promotion value.
