    This paper tries to analyze the necessity of establishing a statistical index system of science popularization industry upon an analysis of a large amount of research results that have been achieved in this regard. This paper, based on “national industries classification” standard (GB/T4754-2011), firstly gives a definition of such principal issues as the statistics scopes and statistics targets, secondly proposes some abiding principles on how to design and plan the statistical index, and thirdly puts forward some ideas concerning how to establish an initial framework for statistical index system. In the final analysis, this paper comes up with some suggestions regarding how to improve the statistical work in China, contributing to laying a sound foundation for constructing a perfect and better framework for statistical index system in China.

    Bidding for a National Science Popularization Exemplary County (city/district) is divided into two phases, constructing and demonstrating. As there is lack of effective guidance in management, constructing units may get lost on how to play their role in the ensuing demonstrating phase. Based on the analysis of the operation of National SP Exemplary Counties (cities/districts) in their demonstrating phase and following certain constructing principles, the essay tries to define a set of assessing indexes for practice. The index construct is modified by consulting experts and weights are calculated and distributed according to the scores made by the experts. The construct of the assessing indexes is expected to offer a quantifiable reference for the management of the project of the National SP Exemplary Counties (cities/districts).

    With the popularity of the Internet, mobile phones, search engines, and application of new media platforms, the ability and speed of people to obtain scientific information has been greatly improved. Traditionally, the dissemination of scientific information pays more attention to the communication process, the circumstances and the impact of dissemination of results. Science fiction plays an important role in the dissemination of scientific ideas, scientific values, and the spirit of science. From the communication point of view, the use of Elaboration Likelihood Model of Persuasion, AMO factors can enhance the influence of science communication in science fiction.

    Since it was presented, American science sitcom The Big Bang Theory has been widely appreciated by the audience, including critics and real scientists. Focused on young scientists, the TV play has created an individual style of science sitcom through the integration of science and daily life. Compared with ordinary themes, the science sitcom sets three particular kinds of character relations to advance the story on the background of science. By presenting the differences of the understanding of science, differences and contradictions among scientists and connections with science fiction, the particular character establishment of science sitcom could be enlightenment for science communication.

    At present, the level of civic scientific literacy in our country is not optimistic, civic scientific literacy has become one of the important factors that restrict economic development. 1 562 students has been surveyed by “Civic Scientific Literacy Measurement in Media (SLiM)” developed by Taiwan Normal University research team. The Scientific literacy between students in Mainland and Taiwan has been compared through this survey. And the reasons are analyzed in terms of curriculum idea, curriculum arrangement, courses liking degree and media usage. Finally, on the basis of the study, some customized suggestions have been put forward.

    In China, the recognizing whether a website belongs to science websites relies mainly on expert judgment to proceed. This kind of subjective judgment is not only time-consuming, and the results are not reliable. Browsing and judging by experts have low efficient because the rich website content. They only can process very limited part of any website under certain time and energy. Besides this, different people may make different judgments. It is necessary to propose a quantitative method based on machine intelligence. This paper will discuss the feature word vectors of Chinese popular science websites what is processed by computer abstracted from real content based on vector space model. We think it can better the performance of the site's textual content and meaning. Based on this method, people may make a system to automatically determine the ultimate realization of website content if it contains science ingredients as well as what kind of science content.

    Genetic-Modified Foods (GM foods) is a controversial technology product in our society. At present, “Golden Rice” event raises Genetic-Modified Foods arguments to a new peak. Previous studies on GM foods in China focus on investigating public's recognition degree and purchase intentions on GM foods. This study investigates public's anticipation towards science and technology policies on GM foods. Results show that most respondents anticipate that GM corns should be marked; they could see more governments information on GM foods; on significant issues like GM rice commercialization, most respondents hope to participate in decision-making; respondents anticipate that GM foods risks monitoring systems should be improved; GM foods approval program should be strictly strengthened; and GM foods quality liability investigation should be improved.

The arrival of the era of big data changed the media ecology; television is facing new challenges and opportunities. Science TV programs can achieve new development with big data technology, but the communication strategy of science TV program based on the technology of big data is a process of gradual development.

    Underdevelopment and low specialization exist in the evaluation system of science and technology museum professionals in China. Discrepancy presents between the main job content/core functions of S&T museum professionals and the existing professional titles and specific vocational qualification series system. Thus the existing professional technical titles are complex and scattered, with no national standards or regulations. Abide by the industry characteristics; administrative management, job system and hiring policy related evaluations of professionals in S&T museums, personnel administrative authority should be decentralized, with the transformation from the mode of administration management to the mode of providing public service. Based on the standard competency model, the evaluation dynamically maintained and developed, with the function of business organizations, regulations of business, professional competence enhancement of assessment panel and personnel managers, and the moderately considered connection between the evaluation of professional titles and the system of professional qualifications.

    Science Popularization Project Mode under Public-Private Coordinative Partnership is a new mode to carry out science popularization activities based on cooperation between government and corporations. Taking enhancing quality and expanding influence of science popularization activities as main objective, this mode is also the way to fulfill social obligations for the corporations and achieve win-win for each project participators. Based on relative theories and comparative case study, the project stakeholders are classified in three ways, which are “sponsor”, “supporter” and “executor”, the project mode is classified in four types, and their operation, applicability, effort and participator capability are analyzed by typical examples.

    As the tide of information technology across the globe, countries are actively strengthening the information infrastructure construction and science popularization. In the United States, improving the public scientific literacy especially young people's scientific literacy is the primary task of the construction of information technology. And the government developed a programmatic document, which is using science and technology to promote educational development and IT popularization—the National Education Technology Plan (NETP). NETP motivates the construction of education of America, the popularization of information technology and the improvement of scientific literacy of adolescent in the information age. This paper describes the content and context of the four NETP. It explores popularization of information technology in the field of education to provide practical and theoretical instruction for our country from each of the strategic objectives and the content features of the plan.
