The Wondrous Kingdom of Number is a representative work among Li Yupei’s scientific fairy tales themed around mathematics. Highlighting the theme of numbers, the work systematically popularizes mathematical knowledge, including integers, fractions, decimals, and algebra. It simultaneously promotes scientific thought centered around dialectical development and fully constructs a mathematical fairy-tale universe as a “secondary world.” Emphasizing interactive narrative techniques between the fairy-tale and real worlds, the book employs personification and concretization to enhance the vividness of the “Kingdom of Number,” creating an immersive and tangible fairy-tale experience. In terms of creative techniques,it adheres to the principle of child-centeredness by stressing a simple plot structure, narrative conflicts, and engaging storytelling. By using accessible scientific fairy tales to dissolve the rigidity of knowledge, the dissemination effect of mathematical concepts and scientific thought is optimized.

Mathematical popularization serves as a vital means of disseminating mathematical knowledge and cultural insights, helping the public grasp mathematical fundamentals while inspiring a passion for the subject. This,in turn, promotes broader applications and advances in mathematics across various fields. As an outstanding representative in mathematics popularization,Wang Juncen’s works continue to be regarded as classics. In 2022,his renowned series was republished as Fun Mathematics for Children. Employing familiar examples, the series creates an engaging atmosphere, conveying mathematical concepts through concise, dialectically unified storytelling. Mathematical popular science writers can derive numerous insights from Wang’s works, including his extensive and vivid content selection, lively modes of expression, dialectical cohesion of knowledge, and skillful narrative integration.

With the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence and brain-computer interface technologies, the evolving relationship between humans and technology,as well as the crisis of human subjectivity, has become unavoidable topics in contemporary humanities research. Among classic science fiction films,Kon Satoshi’s Paprika presents a representative vision of posthuman subjectivity. Through imaginative interactions between humans and brain-computer interfaces, spectacular representations of the metaverse, and the embodied construction of subjectivity, the film articulates a fluid, decentralized form of posthuman thought grounded in humanistic concern. Exploring and re-evaluating Paprika helps us reaffirm humanity’s unique subjective value as we approach the imminent era of general artificial intelligence and the posthuman future.
