This paper reviews the major optical advances in 2023 by retrospecting progresses made in the fields of optical technology research, such as photophysics, optical material and structures, bio-medical optics, light-matter interaction, optoelectronics, optical design and instrumentation, optical information processing, light source and high field laser, interdisciplinary photonics, visual color, terahertz optics. It may have a great impact on human existence and life style in the future.
