To provide a thorough understanding of the international research status on architectural heritage protection and make a comparison between China and foreign countries, 342 articles published by International Journal of Architectural Heritage (IJAH), the one and the only journal concerning architectural heritage in the database of Web of Science, from 2014 to 2018 are analyzed using statistical and bibliometrics methods. From the analysis, it is shown that the research has focused on structural behavior, surveying and mapping, and material analysis, and that the international study is characterized by interactive multithematic structure among mechanical behaviors, material characterization, surveying and mapping, environmental science and others, and has selection bias of research objects, as well as employs multi-analysis research method etc. Besides, there is still a capacious development space for domestic research in quantitative analysis, interdisciplinary study, expansion of research contents.
