Public safety is the base of national security and social stability and is important for ensuring national modernization development. The Chinese public safety technology has obtained obvious progress owing to the high attention of government, especially the support of National Medium and Long-term Plan for Science and Technology Development (2006-2020). This paper describes the Chinese public safety technology development, chances and challenges. Besides, the technology used and achievements obtained by Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) after Typhoon Hato are presented.
