Oscar Zariski, one of the most distinguished mathematicians in America in the 20th century, is credited with founding the American school of algebraic geometry. This paper explores Zariski’s remarkable contributions to mathematics through an in−depth study of his works and related literature. Zariski exhibited a profound interest in mathematics from a young age, under the influence of the Italian school of algebraic geometry, embarked on his journey into algebraic geometry. He initially employed topological methods to study algebraic geometry, and subsequently utilized commutative algebraic approaches to reconstruct the logical foundations of algebraic geometry. Zariski pursued academic rigor, demonstrated courage in innovating research methods, and nurtured numerous young talents, thus exemplifying the noble spirit of a scientist.
