From 2007 to 2018, altogether 918 projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) were terminated or canceled, and a total of 205.20 million yuan was withdrawn. Based on the newly issued project change management regulations of NSFC and the management experience in termination and cancellation of projects, this paper analyzes the data of those projects terminated or canceled by NSFC, summarizes useful experiences, and puts forward some suggestions.
