Objective:

To analyze the application value of mind-regulating acupuncture combined with sensory integration training in the language rehabilitation of children with autism.

Methods:

A prospective study was conducted. A total of 93 children with autism admitted to the Department of Rehabilitation of Pingdingshan First People's Hospital from January 2024 to January 2025 were selected as the study subjects. They were randomly divided into a control group and an observation group using a random number table method, with 45 cases in each group. The control group received sensory integration training intervention, while the observation group received mind-regulating acupuncture combined with sensory integration training intervention. Both groups were continuously intervened for 6 months. The scores of the Autism Behavior Checklist (ABC), Children's Sensory Integration Development Rating Scale, Autism Treatment Evaluation Checklist (ATEC), and Childhood Autism Rating Scale (CARS) were compared between the two groups before treatment, at 3 months of treatment, and at 6 months of treatment.

Results:

Repeated measures ANOVA showed that the main effect of the group was statistically significant in the following scale scores (P <0.05) : Children's Sensory Integration Development Rating Scale, ATEC score, CARS score, and the sensory, social interaction, motor, language, and self-care dimensions of the ABC score. Further trend analysis indicated that the total ATEC score, total CARS score, and all dimension scores of the ABC showed a significant downward trend over time (P <0.05) ; the score of the Children's Sensory Integration Development Rating Scale showed a significant upward trend over time (P < 0.05).

Conclusion:

Mind-regulating acupuncture combined with sensory integration training can improve the core symptoms of children with autism, enhance sensory integration ability, and has a good effect on language rehabilitation in these children.
