    Does the difference of science communication (SC) and technology communication (TC) lie in the contents of science or technology? The author reviews the meanings and characteristics of SC and TC, and believes that the difference does not lie in the contents of science or technology, but in the goals and the tasks, the role of technology, the key knowledge flow, the target groups, and the communication channels.

    This report was released online (http://people-press.org) with the title “Public Praises Science; Scientists Fault Public, Media”. The research survey was conducted by Pew Research Center collaborating with AAAS. The report reveals the results relating to both scientists and the public's opinions about the expending priority of sciences, the restrictions to scientific researches, the relations between the media and science community, the public understanding of scientific knowledge and the images of the scientists, etc. The data would be much helpful to the Chinese colleagues in science communication and those who are interested in this field.

    It is an inevitable requirement on the harmonious and orderly public participation for building a harmonious society. The harmony of the public participation in science and technology policy-making serves to strengthen the harmonious process of science and technology policy-making, to promote public harmonious interaction with the government and the scientists, and to cultivate a more participatory public of sound reason, and so on. Strengthening the harmony of the public participation in the science and technology policy-making, we need to strengthen the education of a comprehensive public understanding of the science, to perfect the legal system and institution for public harmony participation, to build a participatory culture of science and technology policy-making, and to broaden the social domain for the harmony public participation and so on.

    This article examines the concept of science popularization capability, and debates the relationship between science popularization capability and S&T innovation as well as innovative nation construction. Combining the theoretical analysis with the science popularization experience from shanghai, the article puts forward a pentagonal model, which aims at the pervasion of organization system, integration of social resources, leading role of innovation demonstration, influence of social effects, and regulation of popularization efficiency.

    The major places where CAST plays a role in minor's extracurricular science and technology education are science and technology museums (science centers), youth science studios and the rural extracurricular youth learning centers, etc. By analyzing activities, team building, management system as well as investment of these places, the authors find that there are still some problems in the exhibitory education concept, contents of activities, service capacity and its combination with school science education. In dealing with these problems, this paper suggests that these places should adhere to the concept of people-orientation and reinformcement of the resource integration, contents construction and team building as well.

    In 2006, Chinese government issued the “Outline of National Action Scheme of Scientific Literacy for All Chinese Citizens”. Science museums in China need to match this scheme to promote the citizens’ scientific literacy. There are a lot of new ideas in the development of science museums. The paper focuses on how to build science museums in China, to follow the international trend, to promote the citizens’ scientific literacy.

The history of science popularization is a part of cultural history. In China, because the Science began to communicate without the condition of social foundations, this process has the characteristies of government guiding, social elite practicing and top-down flowing.
