ArchiveFirstly, the article analyzes the importance of talents team building of the national popular science base. Secondly, based on the survey of the 186 national popular science bases, it introduces the status of these bases' talents team building comprehensively from the aspects of personnel's post setting, the construction of education level, the cultivation of personnel's literacy, talents' gap, talents' training, and so on. Lastly, the article points out several developmental strategies of talents basing on the future developmental tendency of science popularization.
Being the mainstay and foremost power of our country's scientific research, the national scientific institutes have very rich and special popular science resources to be explored. We choose one of these institutes-Institute of Atmospheric Physics, Chinese Academy of Science-to investigate its popular science resource situation, analyze the experiences and the problems existed, and try to give some suggestions on the resolve of them.
The 21st century will see tremendous growth in the field of life-science. The study of life-science (which focus on origins of life), its effects on a society (i.e. healthcare, food safety) and economy are all intimately related with sustainable development. Therefore, the continued study and development of life science has received more and more attention from people and countries around the world. Any advancement of science requires people to understand and support. Life-science exhibitions are the center of attraction in museums of foreign countries. In contrast, exhibits in basic sciences, geology, natural resources, information technology, etc. receive precedence over life-science exhibitions in China. Consequently, the majority of museums and science centers in China lack the experience in the design and construction of life-science exhibitions. As a result, the scales of life-science exhibitions are often limited and their content is poor. This paper analyzes the life-science exhibitions of other countries as well as the current exhibitions in China. As a conclusion, I present a comprehensive study on implementing life-science exhibitions for Chinese audience.
Interactive museum exhibits are ubiquitous in science centers, and are becoming increasingly popular in art, history and cultural museums. At an interactive exhibit, visitors can act on the exhibit and the exhibit reacts. While there is much theoretical and empirical support for the idea that interactive features in exhibits promote science learning, we believe that serious design problems can arise if an uncritical “more is better” approach is taken to interactivity. This article describes five common pitfalls of designing exhibits with high levels of interactivity or multiple interactive features: (1) multiple options with equal salience, (2) features allowing multiple users to interfere with one another, (3) options that encourage users to disrupt the phenomenon being displayed, (4) features that make the critical phenomenon difficult to find, and (5) secondary features that obscure the primary feature. Examples of each of the five problems are presented, and possible design solutions are offered.
This paper objectively introduces the investigation on the general situation of science popularization in the living area of Chinese minority. The detailed analyses on the organization construction of the association for science and technology, the human resources of science popularization in the rural, financial imput and the basic facilities of science popularization are included. Furthermore, the existing main problems are summarized, and constructive advice is proposed for the work in future.
Scientific literacy has become a very important issue in different countries. India attaches particular attention on popularizing science. This paper attempts to start from the perspective of India's science and technology policy to see it's support of popular science, then analyzes theoretically the development of science literacy in India and the reality of the India's measure of scientific literacy, and finally turns to the Enlightenment of India to China.
The relationship between science fiction and capacity building of national creative abilities has not been deeply explored. This research focus on the subject and it is the summary of China Science and Technology Association sponsored research project Science Fiction and Capacity Building of National Creative Abilities. Through interviewing with famous scientists, artists and journalists, questionaairing to the science fiction readers, and idea collecting from writers, editors and science fiction related persons, three results has been presented. First, science fiction can influence national creative abilities. Second, science fiction can enhance capacity building of the persons, especially children. Third, integrate recourses can raise the influence of science fiction in building of the creative abilities. Several policy making suggestions has been provided.

This article explores the history of the translation of popular science books in three stages as the author defined, the translations the missionaries did as they tried to introduce science and technology of the West to the governments in Ming and Qing dynasties (16-19centuries), translations developed by Chinese scientists and intellectuals by journals and big events as Einstein's trip to China and, the new boom of translation of books diversified in scientific culture from 1990's through to today.
