Zooniverse is the world's largest citizen science platform. By mobilizing millions of volunteers from around the globe, it helps scientists efficiently carry out research work that requires a significant amount of human effort. This open collaboration model not only supports the processing of vast amounts of scientific data but also provides the general public with opportunities to engage in authentic scientific practices. Zooniverse offers a wealth of technological resources for science communication and creation. Researchers and volunteers collaborate on platform projects to co-create popular science articles, lesson plans, exhibitions, and more, demonstrating the tremendous potential and value of citizen science platforms. Its successful experience is worthy of study and emulation. This paper summarizes the evolution, resources, and operational highlights of the Zooniverse platform, as well as its empowerment of science popularization, with the aim of further promoting the establishment of similar platforms domestically and injecting new vitality into scientific research and science popularization.
