Objective:

To explore the clinical efficacy of modified Yanggan Powder combined with Sini Powder in the treatment of chronic hepatitis B (CHB) with liver depression, spleen deficiency, and blood stasis obstructing the collaterals.

Methods:

A total of 122 CHB patients diagnosed in the Hai'an Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital from April 2021 to December 2023 were randomly divided into an observation group (n=61) and a control group (n = 61) using a computer-generated random number method. The control group was treated with entecavir, while the observation group received a combination of modified Yanggan Powder and Sini Powder. After 6 months of treatment, the two groups were compared for TCM syndrome scores, liver function, HBV-DNA load, inflammatory factors (IL-1β, IL-6), liver function ultrasound indicators, therapeutic efficacy, and adverse reactions.

Results:

After treatment, both groups showed a reduction in TCM syndrome scores, aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), total bilirubin (TBiL), HBV-DNA load, IL-1β, and IL-6, with the observation group showing lower values than the control group (P <0.05). Both groups had an increase in albumin (ALB), with the observation group showing a higher increase than the control group. There were no significant changes in the hepatic portal vein diameter, splenic vein diameter, or spleen thickness before and after treatment in both groups (P > 0.05). The therapeutic efficacy rate in the observation group was higher than that in the control group (P <0.05). No serious adverse reactions were observed in either group.

Conclusion:

Modified Yanggan Powder combined with Sini Powder is effective in treating HBV with liver qi stagnation, spleen deficiency, and blood stasis obstructing the channels, helping to relieve liver function symptoms, reduce inflammatory responses, and achieve good therapeutic effects.
