On the basis of the original five round billets with Φ180~Φ270 mm of 2# casting machine of Steel Tube Co. of Baotou Steel, Φ245 mm billet has been successfully developed by various studies such as the crystallizer structure design, design of vibration process for crystallizer, secondary cooling process and continuous straightening process for the billet. The production practices show that the internal and external qualities of Φ245 mm billet could meet the requirements of standard and rolling as well as its development reaches the desired effects.

In this paper, it is studied the microstructure and properties of medium carbon alloy steel by setting different finish cooling temperatures with two-stage cooling of 2 250 mm hot rolling production line of Baotou Steel. The results showed that as the finish cooling temperature was decreased from 500 ℃ to 100 ℃, the metallographic structure of the test steel was gradually evolved from the structure of "ferrite + pearlite" to the structure of "ferrite + martensite", the yield strength and tensile strength were increased rapidly as well as the elongation was gradually decreased. When the finish cooling temperature reached 320 ℃, the test steel began martensite transformation. According to the market demand, when the finish cooling temperature is set to 320 ℃, the performances of test steel were qualified with customer's 45° cold bend test on the basis of ensuring mechanical properties.

In this paper, the effects of rare earth alloy addition on the internal quality and conventional mechanical properties of ingot blank are compared and analyzed by adding 0.003 0% ferro cerium alloy into the existing 310 Z-steel of Baotou Steel. The comparison results showed that the comprehensive mechanical properties of 310 Z-steel were effectively improved by adding the ferro cerium alloy.

The functions of rare earth Ce on metallographic structure, texture and magnetic properties of finished products of non-oriented electrical steel with 1.5% Si were analyzed with such equipment as the Zeiss microscope and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The results showed that the average grain size of metallographic structure of finished products increased after add 87 × 10-6 Ce, the density of such textures as {111} and {110}<001>in finished products harmful to magnetic properties decreased as well as the average iron loss value P15/50 decreased by 0.102 W/kg and the magnetic polarization intensity B50 kept constant.

In this paper, the effects of adding rare earth into A572.Gr65 steel on its inclusions, microstructure and properties were studied with industrial experiments. The results showed that the inclusions in steel were mainly Al2O3 and Al2O3-CaO before add the rare earth and the size was about 5 μm as well as the inclusions were changed to spherical RE2O2S with the size less than 2 μm after add the rare earth. The thermodynamic and dynamics calculations showed that RE2O2S was the most easily formed inclusion in steel after add rare earth as well as the diffusion rate of RE3+ and Al3+ in the intermediate layer of RE2O2S·Al2O3 was the restrictive link of modified rare earth inclusions. After add the rare earth, the microstructure of hot rolled plate was refined as well as the impact and tensile properties were increased with the increase of rare earth content.

Regarding to the cracking problem of hot-rolled wheel steel BT380CL used for spoke produced with the 2 250 mm hot rolling production line of Baotou Steel during the machining process of customer, the cause for the flow forming punching cracking of hot-rolled wheel steel used for spoke is that the segregation band of pearlite, stripe of sulfide as well as such inclusions as silicate and aluminate in the center of plate are inconsistent with the plasticity of matrix through testing mechanical property, observing metallographic structure, scanning electron microscope observation of inclusions and energy spectrum analysis on the samples of tensile sample of parent metal, metallographic specimen and hardness sample as well as the metallographic specimen of both cracked and uncracked parts of spoke.

The high-pressure water pump loads are usually used in such more important occasions as the circulating water systems of iron and steel enterprises as well as the selected high-pressure motors are generally more expensive, so no matter they are too large or small, it will cause unnecessary waste. Thus, the motor selection for such loads normally is introduced in this paper.
