In this paper, it is analyzed the failures for unloading at high temperature of GK1 type diesel locomotive as well as found out the causes for various failures of cooling systems at high and low temperatures, especially the rare failures of cooling system at low temperature. As a result, the solution of installing water temperature gauge and limnimeter in low temperature cooling system is put forward so that the efficiency of failure diagnosis is effectively improved and normal operation of diesel locomotive is ensured.
