Objective

To analyze the impact of multi-level social capital on the subjective well-being of rural middle-aged and elderly individuals, exploring the roles of different levels of social capital.

Methods

Utilizing data from the 2020 China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS), a multi-level linear model was constructed to investigate how individual social capital and community social capital influence the subjective well-being of rural middle-aged and elderly individuals. Instrumental variables were employed to validate the causal relationship between these dimensions.

Results

In the null model, the intra-class correlation coefficient (ICC) was 0.135, indicating community-level differences in the subjective well-being of rural middle-aged and elderly individuals. The multi-level linear model revealed that both individual social capital and community social capital positively affected the subjective well-being, with regression coefficients of 0.018 (P<0.05) and 0.001 (P<0.05), respectively. Factors such as age, marital status, self-rated health, physical disabilities, health insurance, and education level significantly influenced subjective well-being, with regression coefficients of 0.118 (P<0.001), 0.051 (P=0.022), 0.181 (P<0.001), -0.155 (P<0.001), 0.070 (P=0.054), and -0.082 (P<0.001), respectively.

Conclusion

The multi-level social capital plays a positive role in enhancing the subjective well-being of rural middle-aged and elderly individuals, and efforts should be made to further improve the social integration of the elderly.

目的

分析多层次社会资本对农村中老年人主观幸福感的影响，探究不同层次社会资本的作用。

方法

基于2020年中国健康与养老追踪调查（CHARLS）数据，通过构建多层线性模型探究个体社会资本与社区社会资本这两个维度如何作用于农村中老年人的主观幸福感，使用工具变量验证了他们之间的因果关系。

结果

在零模型中，组内相关系数ICC为0.135，表明农村中老年人主观幸福感存在社区差异。在多层线性模型中，个体社会资本和社区社会资本对农村中老年人主观幸福感皆具有正向影响，回归系数分别为0.018（P<0.05）和0.001（P<0.05）；年龄、婚姻状况、自评健康、身体功能障碍、医疗保险、受教育水平等因素显著影响农村中老年人的主观幸福感，回归系数分别为0.118（P<0.001）、0.051（P=0.022）、0.181（P<0.001）、-0.155（P<0.001）、0.070（P=0.054）和-0.082（P<0.001）。

结论

多层次社会资本对提升农村中老年人的主观幸福感具有积极作用，应进一步提升中老年人社会融入水平。

目的

分析多层次社会资本对农村中老年人主观幸福感的影响，探究不同层次社会资本的作用。

方法

基于2020年中国健康与养老追踪调查（CHARLS）数据，通过构建多层线性模型探究个体社会资本与社区社会资本这两个维度如何作用于农村中老年人的主观幸福感，使用工具变量验证了他们之间的因果关系。

结果

在零模型中，组内相关系数ICC为0.135，表明农村中老年人主观幸福感存在社区差异。在多层线性模型中，个体社会资本和社区社会资本对农村中老年人主观幸福感皆具有正向影响，回归系数分别为0.018（P<0.05）和0.001（P<0.05）；年龄、婚姻状况、自评健康、身体功能障碍、医疗保险、受教育水平等因素显著影响农村中老年人的主观幸福感，回归系数分别为0.118（P<0.001）、0.051（P=0.022）、0.181（P<0.001）、-0.155（P<0.001）、0.070（P=0.054）和-0.082（P<0.001）。

结论

多层次社会资本对提升农村中老年人的主观幸福感具有积极作用，应进一步提升中老年人社会融入水平。

Objective

To analyze the impact of multi-level social capital on the subjective well-being of rural middle-aged and elderly individuals, exploring the roles of different levels of social capital.

Methods

Utilizing data from the 2020 China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS), a multi-level linear model was constructed to investigate how individual social capital and community social capital influence the subjective well-being of rural middle-aged and elderly individuals. Instrumental variables were employed to validate the causal relationship between these dimensions.

Results

In the null model, the intra-class correlation coefficient (ICC) was 0.135, indicating community-level differences in the subjective well-being of rural middle-aged and elderly individuals. The multi-level linear model revealed that both individual social capital and community social capital positively affected the subjective well-being, with regression coefficients of 0.018 (P<0.05) and 0.001 (P<0.05), respectively. Factors such as age, marital status, self-rated health, physical disabilities, health insurance, and education level significantly influenced subjective well-being, with regression coefficients of 0.118 (P<0.001), 0.051 (P=0.022), 0.181 (P<0.001), -0.155 (P<0.001), 0.070 (P=0.054), and -0.082 (P<0.001), respectively.

Conclusion

The multi-level social capital plays a positive role in enhancing the subjective well-being of rural middle-aged and elderly individuals, and efforts should be made to further improve the social integration of the elderly.

我国老龄化进程不断加快，据第七次全国人口普查数据显示，2020年60岁及以上老年人口已占总人口的18.7%[1]。国家卫生健康委员会于2022年发布了《十四五健康老龄化规划》，规划中强调积极应对人口老龄化，提出需要从生理、心理和社会三个方面完善老年人的健康状况。当前，我国老年人除了身体机能的下降，还伴随着心理健康问题，随着年龄增长，他们承受着来自疾病折磨、丧偶、丧失劳动能力或经济来源等一系列压力性事件而产生的负面情绪[2]，导致老年人更容易出现焦虑和抑郁，从而增加老年人患病率和死亡率[3-4]。老年人主观幸福感是衡量老年人精神层面的重要指标之一，对于成功实现健康老龄化发挥着至关重要的作用[5]。
目前针对农村中老年人主观幸福感影响因素和作用机制的研究还不完善[6-9]，部分文献从社会资本的某一个维度来探究其对老年群体主观幸福感的影响[10]。基于社会资本概念的多维属性[11]，本研究旨在分析个体社会资本和社区社会资本对农村中老年人主观幸福感的影响，为实现农村地区积极老龄化提供重要依据。
1 资料与方法

1.1 资料来源
本研究依托于北京大学国家发展研究院实施的中国健康与养老追踪调查（CHARLS）项目，采用了2020年的调查数据进行实证分析。该项目广泛覆盖了我国28个省份，旨在系统收集45岁以上中老年人的高质量微观数据。本研究样本纳入排除标准如下：（1）研究对象居住地为农村；（2）研究对象年龄≥45岁；（3）具有完整的人口学背景、认知与抑郁和健康状况相关资料，包括研究对象的受教育程度、婚姻状况、自评健康、养老保险、慢病数量和身体健康等。在19 395名研究对象中，剔除居住地为城市（n=7 125）、年龄为45岁以下（n=238）和其他缺失值（n=1 450）后，最终得到有效样本10 582份。
1.2 变量定义
被解释变量：本研究被解释变量为中老年人主观幸福感。在“认知与抑郁”模块，CHARLS询问受访者对自己的生活是否感到满意，计分范围为1～5分，回答“极其满意”计1分，“一点也不满意”计5分。本研究对其逆向编码，分值越大表示主观幸福感程度越高。
解释变量：本研究解释变量为社会资本，并且以个体和社区两个层次社会资本的视角来考察其对中老年人主观幸福感的影响。（1）个体社会资本。在“健康状况”模块，CHARLS询问受访者在过去一个月是否进行交友、娱乐、提供帮助、运动健身、社团活动、志愿活动、教育培训和其他社交活动等八项内容。参考薛新东、王琼等[12-13]学者的做法，如果受访者参与其中一项活动则个体社会资本计1分，如果参与全部八项活动则计8分。为便于对回归结果进行解释，本研究对个体社会资本实施标准化处理。（2）社区社会资本。计算社区层面的社会资本时借鉴Hendryx等[14]学者的做法，将同一社区个体社会资本的均值作为该社区社会资本指标得分。
控制变量：参考王阿妮、张彤进等[15-16]学者的研究，同时考虑数据可得性，本研究控制变量的选择以及具体赋值如下：年龄（≤65岁=0，>65岁=1）、性别（女=0，男=1）、受教育程度（文盲=0，小学及以下=1，初中及以上=2）、婚姻状况（其他情况=0，已婚=1）、自评健康（很不好=1，不好=2，一般=3，好=5，很好=5）、医疗保险（无=0，有=1）、养老保险（无=0，有=1）、慢病数量（无=0，1种=1，2种及以上=2）、身体功能障碍（无=0，1种及以上=1）。
1.3 模型
由于多层线性模型便于分析同一社区内个体相关性，因此本研究构建该模型研究不同层次社会资本对农村中老年人主观幸福感的影响，具体模型如下：
其中SWBij表示社区j中个体i的主观幸福感，SCij表示社区j中个体i的个体社会资本，SCj表示社区j的社区层面社会资本，β1和β2表示个体社会资本和社区社会资本对个体主观幸福感的影响，Xij为控制变量，ξj为社区层面的随机截距项，εij为个体随机扰动项。
1.4 统计学方法
利用stata 18.0软件进行数据整理与分析。连续型变量描述统计用表示，分类变量用百分比表示，采用方差分析比较不同特征居民主观幸福感得分的差异。运用多线性模型估计社会资本对农村中老年人主观幸福感的影响，为控制由反向因果和遗漏变量而产生的内生性问题，本研究选用如下方法：（1）滞后项估计，将个体社会资本与社区社会资本的滞后一期纳入回归模型来控制内生关联；（2）工具变量法，以同一社区内个体的受教育差异程度作为工具变量来构建两阶段最小二乘法模型进行回归分析。检验水准α=0.05。

2.1 描述性统计
本研究共纳入10 582名45岁以上老人，其中男性4 972人，女性5 610人；受教育程度：文盲2 811人，小学及以下5 021人，初中及以上2 750人；婚姻状况：已婚8 964人，未婚1 618人。表1显示了将各变量与主观幸福感得分做方差分析的结果，表明不同年龄、受教育程度、自评健康、养老保险与主观幸福感得分之间的差异具有统计学意义(P<0.05)。
2.2 社会资本对主观幸福感的影响
表2显示了使用多层线性模型估计社会资本对中老年人主观幸福感的影响，其中模型一为零模型估计结果，组内方差为0.648，组间方差为0.023，说明中老年人主观幸福感主要来自个体差异；零模型的ICC值为0.135，说明截距项解释了13.5%的总方差，使用多层线性模型是合适的。模型二纳入了个体社会资本和社区社会资本，两者皆对主观幸福感产生显著影响，个体社会资本提高一个标准差会使主观幸福感上升0.018，社区社会资本提高一个标准差会使主观幸福感上升0.01。模型三和模型四在模型二的基础上分别加入了社会人口因素和社会经济因素，模型五纳入了全部控制变量，表明不同层次社会资本对主观幸福感仍产生正向影响。
2.3 内生性问题
在分析多层次社会资本对主观幸福感影响时需要考虑内生性问题。第一，社会资本和主观幸福感可能存在反向因果关系，例如主观幸福感高的个体可能更倾向于参加社交活动，社会资本水平更高；第二，个体性格特征和社区公共设施等遗漏变量也可能同时影响个体社会资本和主观幸福感。
本研究采用两种方法来处理内生性问题。第一，使用社会资本的滞后项进行估计，即计算2018年的CHARLS样本数据中个体及社区社会资本，然后估计其对2020年该被调查者主观幸福感的影响。第二，使用工具变量进行估计。由于人们具有“异质性规避偏好”[17]，个体往往倾向于与经济社会背景相似的人交往，这也意味着同质人群的社会资本水平相关程度更高。借鉴D'Hombres等[18]学者的做法，本研究使用同一社区内个体受教育程度差异作为社会资本的工具变量。回归结果如表3所示，在社会资本滞后项模型估计中，2018年个体社会资本对2020年居民主观幸福感显示为正向影响，在两阶段最小二乘法估计模型中，工具变量“同一社区内个体受教育程度差异”与社区社会资本显示相关。即在考虑内生性问题情况下，进一步印证了不同层次社会资本仍然对个体主观幸福感具有正向影响。

本研究通过多层线性模型的分析，深入探讨了多层次社会资本对农村中老年人主观幸福感的影响。实证结果表明，社会资本两个维度均对中老年人的主观幸福感产生了显著的正向影响。由于多层次社会资本与农村中老年人的主观幸福感之间存在内生性，使用滞后项和工具变量法纠正内生性问题后，社会资本对主观幸福感的正向影响依然显著，表明社会资本对主观幸福感具有因果关系。
个体社会资本的提升能够显著增强农村中老年人的主观幸福感。这可能由于农村特殊的社会结构属性，相对城市而言，农村的生活空间较为封闭[19]，增加了中老年人相互依赖程度，形成紧密的家庭关系和强大的朋友网络，从而产生“帮扶效应”。在面对生活的困难时，如健康问题、经济压力和情感孤独，可以提供情感支持和实际帮助，缓解生活中的压力和困难，进而提升幸福感。社区社会资本通过改善社区环境和增强社会参与感提高农村中老年人的主观幸福感。在乡村振兴的战略背景下，各地方政府注重加强乡村基本公共设施建设，为打造一个充满信任和互助的社区环境，以促进中老年人积极参与社区活动，增强其自我效能感和社会归属感[20]。社区活动不仅增加了中老年人与他人交流和互动的机会，还可以促进健康的生活方式，提升整体生活质量。同时，更多的社会网络和邻里交往则可以使中老年人感到生活在一个安全、和谐的环境中，减少孤独感和不安全感[21]。此外，社会资本的高水平可能促使中老年人获得更多的社会资源和信息[22]。个体社会资本和社区社会资本能够提供更多的社会网络和信息渠道，使中老年人更容易获得医疗、教育和经济支持等重要资源。这些资源可以直接改善农村中老年人的生活条件，提升其生活满意度和幸福感。社区社会资本的增强还可能通过促进社区内部的合作和信息共享，提高社区成员解决问题的能力，从而对个体的主观幸福感产生积极影响。
研究发现不同背景条件下的农村中老年人的主观幸福感受到的影响截然不同，其中年龄、婚姻状况、自评健康、身体功能障碍、受教育水平、医疗保险均对主观幸福感产生显著影响。农村中老年人的主观幸福感随年龄提升，有研究表明年龄与主观幸福感之间存在“正U型”关系，即到达年龄拐点之前，年龄对主观幸福感具有负效应，然而一旦跨越拐点年龄对主观幸福感产生正向效应[23]，与本研究观点一致；再者，对于农村中老年人来说，伴侣给予的物质与精神上的支持在一定程度上对提高主观幸福感有着积极作用；自评健康水平越高、身体功能障碍越少的农村中老年人，不管是自身所认为的健康状态，还是医院提供的客观健康指标，这一类人往往在社会融合中具有更强的主动性[24]，能更加能够享受生活的乐趣和保持身心愉悦，增加与社会的联结性，使其主观幸福感越高；在农村地区，中老年人受教育程度越高主观幸福感越低，这与既往研究观点不一致[25-26]，可能是因为学历的提升没有获得事业上的自我成就感或者社会阶层的认同感而造成的心理落差感，导致主观幸福感降低[27]；农村地区存在“看病难、看病贵”的社会问题，人们害怕因病返贫，购买医疗保险对于抵御疾病风险有着重要作用，身体健康有了保障其主观幸福感越高[28]。
综上所述，应高度重视多层次社会资本对提升农村中老年人的主观幸福感的作用。政策制定者应加大财政投入，社会资本建设向农村地区倾斜，改善公共设施和服务，促进社区凝聚力。通过加强中老年友好型社区建设，提升社区互信和参与度、鼓励社会互助和志愿服务，为激发个体社会资本创造良好的条件；引导农村中老年人积累有效社会资本，培育社区参与感的意识和能力，提高自我效能感，以提升农村中老年人的主观幸福感，改善其生活质量，促进社会和谐发展。
