As an important part of traditional Chinese medicine, traditional Chinese veterinary drugs plays a significant role in the prevention and treatment of livestock and poultry diseases. But in recent years, the phenomenon of illegal addition of compounds to traditional Chinese veterinary drugs has become increasingly severe. This not only affects the quality and efficacy of traditional Chinese veterinary drugs but also poses potential threats to animal health and human food safety. This paper reviewed the current situation of illegal addition of compounds to traditional Chinese veterinary drugs, analyzed the causes and the impacts on the quality and safety of livestock products and deeply explored the current detection methods and technologies for illegal compounds added to traditional Chinese veterinary drugs. By summarizing existing research achievements and proposing future research directions, this paper aims to provide a scientific basis for strengthening the quality supervision of traditional Chinese veterinary drugs, ensuring the safety of livestock and poultry medication and safeguarding the quality and safety of livestock products
