Since science museums have played an important role in science education, more and more science educators focus on developing the educational function of science museums. This study aims to explore the main features of students' conversations in a science museum and the mechanism of knowledge. The results show the following: (1) Most students use perceptual talk, connecting talk, explanation, affective talk and behavioral strategic talk to make a better understanding of the exhibits, but few conversations are related to the study.(2) Knowledge improves students' explanatory talk and understanding of scientific concepts and principles.(3) Students with more knowledge experience more positive emotion and reflect more.
This paper proposes a Nine-component Model to analyze students' scientific literacy, with discussing the influential factors in terms of collective, individual, environmental and educational. A scale of students' scientific literacy and a questionnaire are worked out, and are used to measuring some school students' scientific literacy in Beijing.
“Innovation paradigm” has become the new convention of science communication, with a focus on knowledge economy and national innovation systems. “Popularization paradigm” stresses on scientific culture and human scientific quality. At present, both paradigms make up the two ideas of the domestic study of science communication. Based on the first and second level of science communication theory, the third-level theory of science communication has become important, which focuses on public participate in science research, and the effective way to realize “four sciences and two abilities”. According to the latest research trends of science communication, the three stages can be expanded into five stages: “traditional science popularization”, “public understanding of science”, “public thinking of science”, “public participation in science”, “public science service”. These five stages together form the structured system of “science communication”, which can not only promote science quality of citizens but also complete our national innovation systems. Besides that, the five-stage provides certain theory support for the forming of social sciences and culture, and for the changing of government functions in the field of science communication.
Genetically modified crops have got great gained widely attention. Based on the survey data of 2 897 college students in Wuhan city, we find that attitudes of college students toward genetically modified crops have general level of perceptions on genetically modified crops, and hold comparative support attitudes to industrialization of genetically modified crops. The perceptions and attitudes are influenced by schools, professionals and many other factors. Based on the investigation conclusion, we put forward some suggestions from the government, research experts, school and college students.
Based on the research of science and technology museum operation status, it discusses the main problems in the education of special-effect theaters. It recommends to develop educational activities which are related to the special-effect films to improve theater education. It explains the significance, the main form of the activities, and way to develop the educational activities. And it introduces China Science and Technology Museum Special-effect Film Festival as an example.
Professional science and technology museum is an important place for scientific education activities, to a great extent, its interactive displays determine the integral design level of the museums and the psychological approval degree of the audiences. This study is based on the survey of interactive display of 10 professional science and technology museums of Beijing, by analyzing the forms and the current situations of interactive displays to find the features and the problems of interactive displays, give advises and promote the development of professional science and technology museums.
Based on an evaluation of education impact of a science communication activity themed with “water saving and protection”, this paper discusses the value of science communication activity towards school science education. Science communication activity helps students understand the science-technology-society relation, optimize their science knowledge structures, stimulate their science learning interests. Increasing their chances of taking part in popular science activities and supporting them a good learning environment can increase the value of popular science activities to school science education.
